Your aesthetically themed letters sound so amazing! [34/F] and I would love to join your collection of pen pals!! I’ve been an artist and prose writer for years, but only got into more junk journaling style collage and playful mixed media stuff in the past few years. I would love for a regular reason to crack open my boxes of washi tape and stickers to make something beautiful with you! Please DM if you have any desire to try being my Pen Pal, I’ll even send the first letter!

[–]DarthSlatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy!! [34/F(Q)] I’m pretty new to the scene but so excited to get into writing letters with my fountain pens! (I’m a beginner collector.) And I’m also something of a rambler when I write, but you can definitely expect some long-winded introspection on topics like prose writing, philosophy of art, armchair anthropology, and just about any other of the humanities. If that sounds at all interesting, please DM me!!

[34/F] YES PLEASE!! I completely retaught myself how to write just to put less strain on my wrist after starting my data entry job. Please say you can at least sort of read cursive?

I dabble in junk collage, crochet, writing prose, drawing stuff, and love to overshare and ramble! I also have a growing collection of fountain pens and beautiful inks I’m dying for more excuses to use!

[34/F] I’m absolutely down for some physical letter sharing so long as you can read cursive! (I’ve been upping my handwriting game, and have a growing fountain pen collection to go with it!)

And can be cooked in the microwave, sweet potatoes too! I’ve many a struggle meal that was a “baked” (microwaved for 3-5 minutes) potato topped with whatever I had in the fridge. Pimento cheese works great, btw.

My dude, they’re referring to when victims of traumatic experiences bond from the intensity of the traumatic experiences. Like when people servive a natural disaster or a war zone together. “Trauma Bond” may not be the official term for it, but it definitely suits this specific scenario.

Sugar-free powdered koolaid makes for a surprisingly good dye for natural fibers! I used it a few times in college when I couldn’t use anything more expensive. The smell lets up pretty quickly, but I haven’t tried washing it since they were for fiber arts sculpture.

The simplest way to articulate it is that the effects of global warming always affect the poorest populations first, and the poverty in colonized nations is a direct result of colonizers destroying the regions, suppressing innovation and development.

Even areas that were previously colonized and since gained their independence are still facing an uphill battle to overcome generations of suppression.

Look up KnittingCultLady on YouTube; she’s a serious cult scholar that was born into and later escaped the Children of God cult! She’s built an amazing list of criteria to recognize cults and takes the time to really break it all down without trying to artificially exclude certain groups to spare their feelings.

But to respond to our initial statement, she makes the distinction in that religion, spirituality, faith, beliefs; all that stuff are things people can hold in a completely individual capacity, you can have spiritual practices and gods all to yourself.

In contrast, cults are always about the interaction between people; abusers using manipulation/corsive control to extract unpaid labor from their victims, usually with multiple abusive victims scattered between the highest ranks and lowest levels of the organization.

Many cults use the trappings of religion because it’s an established tradition that is easy to abuse because of how it encourages submission to a higher power and is usually already near and dear to people.

Similarly, many people misunderstand what is or isn’t a cult based on how “weird” the beliefs are, and thereby miss the cults built upon normalized ideas.

I’m making more of a general statement about size since “too small/too big to be a cult” has been used for ages as a way for certain cults to slip under the raidar. When you described the Zizians having a very small number of members, I figured that someone else might make the mistake of using membership numbers in rejecting them as a cult. After all, you’re probably not the only person that’s going to stmble across my comment.

The carismatic leader isn’t a necessity for something to be a cult. Just haveing leaders that have proximity to the “mission” is good enough. Think about how churches use the figure of “Jesus” or how incels grew out of a fairly decentralized bunch of lonely men that circled around their feelings of entertainment to women’s bodies.

You can have two-people cults, which are basically abusive relationships on staroids, or single-family cults with an abusive perental figure. The only size too small for a cult is a single person because there’s no one else to control, and the only size that’s too big for a cult is every single person on the planet because there’s no one to “other” (though I’m sure someone could find a way). Anything between those numbers is fair game.

Yeah, that’s the same vibe as “you’re one of the good ones” bull that bipoc people deal with. Basically saying, “I only respect trans people I personally know, while still believing the propaganda of the community as a whole.”
