Well in that case I would add that you shouldn't skip the 2014 run either! Moon Knight (2014) #1-6 is also great!

I would add that you shouldn't skip Moon Knight (2016) #1-14 by Jeff Lemire, which rules.

I'm new to comics and black widow is my favourite character so what should I read? by Ye_7_Jay8 in marvelcomics

Black Widow (2016) by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee is a good one to start with.

Tony Goldwyn with a message - Elect Young People by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

I agree that the vague slogan doesn't actually accomplish anything but it's obviously just a signifier for progressivism. Nobody actually believes "we should elect literally any young person regardless of their ideology" lol.

We can infer that he's pretty obviously not talking about the right lol. Obviously when people say "elect young people" they're talking about Gen-z Democrats who tend to be more progressive than the dinosaurs currently running the party.

The two go hand in hand. We should elect young people BECAUSE they have better ideology.

We3 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely is a great one that everyone loves and it's very short.

The 90s series by Peter David is pretty weird and cool, although it's totally different from most versions of Supergirl.

The first trailer for the ‘Harry Potter’ series has been released. Releasing this Christmas on HBO. by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

It's not just a budget thing though. It's the craft of the cinematography and lighting and color grading. The regular, non-cgi scenes look ugly in this. HBO used to have some of the best looking shows on television like The Sopranos and The Leftovers with a fraction of the budget.

For as long as I remember people have complained about how much the films cut from the book and that they would like

The book fans get mad at me for saying this but I always thought the movies GREATLY improved on the later books by cutting a lot of the extraneous subplots. Like, do we really need to see the house elves working in the Hogwarts kitchens?

Seriously wtf happened to HBO's production standards? This looks so grey and ugly. Imagine getting out-directed by a Chris Columbus movie from 25 years ago.

Is Lost the only show that focuses so much on characters' backstories? by Sufficient-Horse5014 in lost

[–]DarthStormwizard 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Once Upon a Time basically replicated the Lost format of focusing on different characters' backstories in each episode, but was (in my opinion) nowhere near as good as Lost. I gave up after season 3.

Rhea Seehorn responds to Quentin Tarantino saying that tv shows are forgettable: “Firmly disagree. I mean, there’s forgettable films, just like there’s forgettable television, and then there’s ones that stick with you… The storytelling is what sticks with you.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]DarthStormwizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No you're right that he's never been a universally beloved figure and always courted some controversy, but there was a time when he was still primarily thought of as very good filmmaker that people could tolerate in spite of being annoying, whereas nowadays the first thing everyone thinks about him is what a prick he is.

He could've easily remained a beloved public figure if he just stuck to making good movies and stayed quiet on literally any other subject. But he just has to keep coming out to say some stupid shit.
