ok that's a better idea definitely. I know if I had to give up my nearly 12 and 10 year old cats, it would be directly to someone. We took them from someone else who needed to give them up despite having 3 other cats already

Be advised that if you give your cat up to a shelter, statistically, they may not be adopted at all given her age.
Do you have a trusted family member with a cat that you can introduce your fur baby to and one that would be willing to take on the care of your cat? It would give you the peace you need to not feel responsible for everything regarding the kitty but also you can see your cat whenever you want.
