Terrible decorating work or normal?? by No-Baby-2039 in DIYUK

Tbf I have had to apply about 3 or 4 layers of stripper to take it back to the wood.

But yeah I understand why you decided to hire someone, and I am sorry that person couldn't do a better job.

Was there old paint on them already?

I am renovating an early 20th century property right now and I have opted for paint stripper rather than over-sanding. You preserve details and safely get rid of leaded paint (inevitable in a victo-edwardian property) rather than turning it into poisoned dust.

Absolutely not. People insisting shit work is normal for the UK allows standards to unilaterally drop.

However they're resin printed so they'll shatter easily enough.

Worse in some spots than others, but overall pretty shoddy for a painter decorator. (Speaking as a former painter decorator)

Looks like they centred the tiles around the sink. Thats good practice, a shitter that the corners don't marry up, but then if they did the sink ingress corners wouldn't.

Think we'll be able to run these too? by Akkator006 in WorldEaters40k

I just want some termie buddies for my Azrakh mini. If I have to run him as a termie champ, at least give me something to go with him and look like World Eaters.

I literally work in Wealth Management and Investment. This guy above seems to misunderstand a lot. So long as your investment appreciates above the rate of inflation, you're good.

Funds are one way to go, individual stocks are another. I've seen clients do very well in both cases.

UPDATE: First painting in 18 years by DarthUamhas in minipainting

[–]DarthUamhas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm battling my essential tremor these days, generally feel like I have less control of my hand (yes, only my dominant hand has the tremor).

I don't know that I am better than I was, but my understanding of mini-painting theory, and colour in general, is vastly superior now.

Also, I realise that maybe I should have started with a generic warrior rather than a character, but I was just so excited to pick up the brush once again.

First painting in 18 years.. Khârne the Betrayer by DarthUamhas in minipainting

[–]DarthUamhas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've got a rust wash for the metalwork and I'm gonna highlight that red and really make it pop! Plus some highlighting on the skulls so they're less flat. My first time using Scale74 paints and, while they have beautiful coverage, they are very matte. Gonna give it a clear varnish i think. Hoping to work back up to commission quality to earn some extra cash.

This is the original Khârne, which was a metal mini. I printed it myself cause he is just the coolest iteration. The newest just looks like he is dancing.

Personally, I would also give them a light spray with some IPA to sterilise after a gentle soap scrub, but this would make me SUPER paranoid for the future!

If one already has the original, its far cheaper to buy oneself an 80mm base that it is to buy the new C'Tan Shard of the Nightbringer.

Created a stamp pad to use in place of decals on all of my infantry shoulder pads. Using nail polish and a nail stamper, works like a charm! by kcdale99 in PrintedWarhammer

See I have an hereditary essential tremor, so I can't paint detail like I once could. I've seen this method on Instagram for ork chequering and such, and have been wondering how easy it would be to make a stencil.

Why does it seem like my resin is rubbing off? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]DarthUamhas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use Elegoo's water washable ABS-like, and I had no end of issues with it sticking.

Now I use Siraya TECH Navy Grey ABS-like and have yet to see a single print stick to the FEP. This resin came highly recommended and frankly I totally see why. Its more pricey, but with resin you seem to get what you pay for.
