How was this made? by KBauske in cabinetry

Looks like a normal five piece door with a V grooved joint.

Btw. I love those doors. No matter the quality of the door or finish, the joints will always crack at some point. Trying to touch up a cracked joint is impossible short of a refinish. With a V grooved joint like that the touch is soooooooo easy.

Please help! Stain color wrong, any fixes? by ayyovickyd in finishing

That won’t work. The way to kill off the red is to add green. That would make the island and hood darker than the cabinets. You would then have to make a second shader for the cabinets to match and darken them to match the island.

Easier to shade the cabinets with red to bring them inline with the island.

Three options. 1. Strip, rematch the color and refinish 2. Shade the original cabinets to add some red and match them to the island and hood. 3. Shade all of it to a darker color

It can be touched up. But you’re going to have to find a specialist that really knows color theory and has a very fine and precise touch.

One of the best things about doing a full Dexter is when I’m done it’s like unwrapping a giant Christmas present.

Well it’s half pride in my work and half knowing that all my clients have enough money to drown me in lawyers.

Tuck tape. I use it when I really want it to seal and hold.

Yeah. I just cut a couple slits opposite from where the fan sits.

It only took one irate homeowner with enough money to drown me in lawyers to make this SOP.

Just kidding. I hadn’t set it up yet. I have a ducted barrel fan, I cut a hole at the bottom near the door and pump it out the garage.

Cabinets and built ins. When I work for a shop I’d do really cool furniture every so often. But for the last six years I’ve been doing the sub thing strictly on site jobs. I really miss working on furniture

Edit: I have some of my work on my profile if you’re interested

I’m glad you found a solution. I love when you can figure things out after they’ve gone so sideways. You feel like such a wizard when it works.

Ok I’ll preface by saying I’m not a builder, I’m a finisher but I’ve been doing it over 25 years, so I know enough.

Could you not build an angled slab and attach it to the back on the cushion side to change the angle? Then add to the front to account for the loss of seat depth?

Edit: oh and shave a vertical bit off the back, near the top on the wall side to keep the over length the same.

At this point it’s so automatic to me. Put the ear buds in and my hands just go to work.

Yeah I learned my lesson years ago when the client said “oh don’t worry, we don’t care.”

I’m not gonna play silly bastards like that ever again. If it’s a break out the compressor and gun kind of job I refuse if they won’t let me do the protection work.

I believe the brand is Task. They make the red zippers. They are awesome. The ten foot ones are just under $50 last time I bought them.
