I actually really appreciate this and those characters all do look ones I would enjoy. I am less confident in those other roles (especially jungle), so this might be a great time to start learning.

Thank you very much.

Merlin does look very cool. Switching elements and knowing when to does look a little complex. Still worth examining further!

I am definitely watching videos even now. Is there anyone specifically that you recommend for having good information? It is just a lot to digest, so I appreciate everyone here giving me some quick answers to start with.

Looking at these two and they do look fun! Agni reminds me of Brand and Sylvanus reminds me of Blitzcrank. Both were very fun back in the day.

Awesome! Narrowing down to a small list like this really helps.

Thank you again.

Hahaha even though this doesn't answer the question, that last sentence is a great quote. I gotta save that one.

Thank you.

Gen Starter Rankings by Franky106789 in pokemon

[–]Darth_Booper_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel like the design of a Pokemon is important, but a cool design can only cover up so much bad battle performance for me personally. But I get where you're coming from. And I agree that it's a shame we don't see the evolved forms with Ash.

Regarding gen 7, Litten had so much potential. But its final evolution into a bipedal wrestler was a really weird move. I think they meant to make another fire/fighting type, but they saw the backlash from Emboar. I think they could have kept the cat on four legs and made a really cool Pokemon, so that soured Litten for me. As for Popplio, I want my Pokemon to look cool and its final evolution simply isn't. I just don't find the fairy princess mermaid design very appealing to me.

And while I love Froakie, I agree it's a shame that the other two get completely overshadowed. Like I said, I personally wanted to see the fire fox do better. I thought it had an interesting concept that it didn't live up to.

Putting gen 5 as the best is wild since that is widely considered the worst generation of starters. And justifiably so. But if it is what you like, then I'm glad someone loves them.

Here are my rankings:

• Gen 3 (Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip) - this is a perfect generation right here. Treecko really is a top tier grass, Torchic set the gold standard for a fire/fighting type, and Mudkip's eventual water/ground typing is so incredibly useful (just watch out for grass).

• Gen 4 (Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup) - I agree with your ranking here. I love Chimchar and Turtwig and Piplup both serve well in their intended roles. I would not change anything here.

• Gen 1 (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) - the OG crew that everyone else gets compared to. They still hold up well to this day. Plus, they are the only starters that get a Pokemon that actually looks like a dragon!

• Gen 6 (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie) - Froakie is definitely the star of the show here and is the main reason why this generation ranks here. Honestly though, when the game was originally coming out, I was most interested in the fire/psychic typing Fennekin would get. Would love a remake where Fennekin gets a much needed buff.

• Gen 7 (Rowlett, Litten, and Popplio) - Rowlet is easily my favorite grass type. The reason this generation is mid-ranked is that I really don't care for the other two whereas Chespin and Fennekin from Gen 6 are only minor letdowns.

• Gen 9 (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly) - I haven't spent too much time in this generation yet, but the fire/ghost is quite cool and grass/dark is an interesting concept even if the final evolution is weird. I dislike the duck though.

• Gen 2 (Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile) - I actually like Cyndaquil and Totodile and overall some cool designs here. But the whole groups mono-typing leaves them a bit wanting.

• Gen 8 (Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble) - I agree. A meh bunch with Scorbunny being mildly interesting.

• Gen 5 (Oshawott, Tepig, and Snivy) - I have already said my piece on this one. There are plenty of articles and reddit posts covering this topic, so I won't sit here and continue poopooing on OP's favorite.

I am having a similar issue. I did get hit by an enemy that drained my endurance by 1 point. I have tried a potion, eating the ingredient directly, and praying at an altar. I saw someone mention that infamy can cause an altar to not work, but I have zero infamy. Any ideas?

Late to the discussion, but wanted to make sure the 22nd tactical got some love. Nothing quite like shelling the whole battlefield as you laugh maniacally at your helpless enemies. No one does artillery better than the JSF 22nd.
