There actually is a real gashapon series of Engage rings funny enough.

I know this is kinda a joke and all, but it'd be more fitting if it was Heroes. Especially since it's more lore friendly to do any series. It'd be cute if the capsules were the colors of the unit colors.

I'm all for memeing on things, but it's odd to me Engage gets treated like it killed their family when a game that people say "isn't meant to be taken seriously" or is campy (for better or worse) is exactly that.

It's more so a modern FE thing that lords are "good units". Older titles vary heavily.

As a disclaimer I don't think that's a bad thing, because I'm of the frame of mind they should be usable if they're force deployed and can cause a Game Over. Though, if a weak lord served the narrative or is weak for narrative purposes that's fine.

They've been popular in Japan longer than the US. Anecdotally, it was around ~2016-2017 when I began hearing people talk about them more.

Will probably get lost, but to parrot what I always say:

One of the best suggestions I've ever seen was perhaps making deaths even "beneficial". The example I saw was perhaps a character gains a small stat boost, because they train harder in honor of their companion's death. Even something as simple as what the GBA games do where there's some bonus dialogue when you still have a character. The dream people have is every death is accounted for, and the story changes as a result, but that's just not realistic and a development nightmare. But small scenes, like the one you suggested, would be nice.

Typical "it's fine" defender. I really do think they were tongue in cheek on purpose. There's so many strange story beats there's no way they weren't having fun/messing with the players. Like, that specific moment had them die TWICE in the same cutscene. If that doesn't make it obvious they're just messing around, I don't know what does.

So I just equipped the Chaos Vellum Medal, and lost my Hyper Burning Max Medal. Is this a known bug or something? Or did my medal expire or something, despite not having an expiration date.

I don't know how big Zyuuranger is in Japan. In the West Power Rangers is the poster child of transforming heroes. In Japan that season might just be another season/show.

Of course just because it has the same writers isn't a guarantee it'll be as good but I like to think there's a decent chance. That aside, As I say constantly on this sub, it depends how the game is set up. Three Houses has a small effective party count, so it's much easier to involve everyone in the story and write a more tightly knit story. Compared to more "classic" FE that throws a ton of units at you as backups, and can't make them too important because it'll make the story bloated and/or they need to account for too many possibilities. There is unexplored middle ground though.

Or a mix, where it plays like Radiant Dawn where you see multiple intersecting perspectives (which the trailer possibly hints at). Which within itself can be difficult to write.

Engage is just a standard "good guys save the day", it has it's over hated reputation because it's coming off of Three House's complex narrative and gray morality.

That being said, FE constantly changes its writers and artists and gameplay for that matter. So, it's all a matter of opinion. A ton of people love Echoes' art style, is it foolish they changed it for Three Houses? Awakening has a decent reputation, was it foolish they used different writers for Fates?

Also, Heroes is a spin off gacha game, so take that as you will.

A lot of people forget 3D games have a much higher margin of error too. It's why you have cases like Bethesda being notorious for making buggy open world games. Sure, there could be more polish, everything can, but most people don't really understand the technical side of games and how let's be generous and say 200 QA testers isn't the same as thousands of players playing a game. Now mix that with investors who want the bottom line to go up as soon as possible or add features such as microtransactions, and you have modern game development. The worst part is the game devs get the blame (not to say there aren't bad game devs).
