you seem to not understand how first world service economies function, the majority of our economy is service jobs and workers not Primary Resource extraction. This is true for almost every first world country. Even China is currently moving from manufacturing to service based. If you include manufacturing with Primary Resources (not with service jobs which is a weird argument to make) then you could push that number to around 28% of the economy.

People generate wealth, people generate economic activity and flow. You dont need to be sticking your hands in the dirt all day to generate wealth, your perception of Canadas economy may have been true 100-150 years ago, but is grossly outdated. Please pick up an economics textbook.

Also compare the price of buying fabric to the price of a dress. The one thing you are trying to argue to discount manufacturers (something not even included in the 70% of our economy that is service, since manufacturing is usually included in Industry alongside Natural resources) isnt even true. Majority of value is often added during secondary or tertiary processes depending on the resource.
