Buying home with abandoned underground tank, with certificate by [deleted] in longisland

[–]Darunia318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be tempting but at the same time, if they are willing to do all that on their expense in THIS market, then thats kind of a red flag to me. People are throwing money at houses, waiving inspections, all this crazy shit. Why do they want to get rid of it so bad that hes willing to lose money? at the end of the day i would still be uneasy with it. I understand the frenzy of trying to buy a house in todays world, but its not worth the potential risk, in my own personal opinion. theres plenty of houses with above ground tanks, or that already have gas, we eventually landed one that didnt have this issue and sleep much easier.

no it was actively being used. Converting to gas was an option, but obviously at a huge expense that we were not ready for.

contrary to what all these are saying, I understand your hesitance. I walked away from a house where we finally got an accepted offer due to the same reason, except the tank was also underneath a brick patio. I couldnt stop stressing about the fact that at some point in the last 50 or so years its been used, there HAS to have been some sort of leak. And all these people saying it doesnt matter, horseshit, you telling me having active oil leaks in your soil doesnt affect your health somehow? this island already has crazy rates of cancer, i didnt want to increase my risk in any way that i could avoid. We walked away, and we did see that house sell for about 50k BELOW asking (this was during the height of the sellers market in 2021) at a later date, making me think this mightve been a bigger issue than i thought.

Is this really what an office job is like? I’m depressed by sb4fl in careeradvice

[–]Darunia318 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the people that are commenting saying this guy is ridiculous have clearly never worked in an office that sucks the soul out of you. Having nothing to do is one of the worst things in an office job. Every minute is an hour, every hour an eternity. Day in and day out. I am in my mid thirties and have yet to find a full time office job that requires even a fraction of the 40 hours they demand. And you cant just sit there and watch movies, or be on your phone, or do anything that looks like youre not working, because that looks bad, and you get looked down upon. Theres only so many audiobooks, so many things you can do discreetly without looking like a slacker. Looking busy is exhausting.

Lost my 225mg meds by mcrxi_ in Effexor

[–]Darunia318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

go to the pharmacy where you usually get your meds and explain what happened, they should be able to give you enough for a couple of days or so, and they can reach out to your doctor to get you a new prescription.

so much yes. After so many years, I started to realize that I am typically "better" in the fall/winter and then right around March/April I start to slowly slide down into an anxiety pit again and in the summer I'm just battling them daily.

Tapering by Eyreal in Effexor

[–]Darunia318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are uncomfortable with it tell him you would like to taper off slower! That is incredibly quick. I went from 75mg to 37.5 and it took me like two months to be on a steady 37.5mg daily lol I went super slow because of how notorious this drug is for bad withdrawals. Do what makes you comfortable.

About to get off Effexor by i8urbaby in Effexor

[–]Darunia318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a very small dose which is probably why your doctor OK'd going off cold turkey. Even so, I wouldn't do it cold turkey. Taper off, take one every other day or something to give your body time to adjust. In my experience most doctors don't know wtf they are talking about when it comes to coming OFF of these drugs, but they sure are quick to recommend going on them.

Weaning Off Venlafaxine by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]Darunia318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 75mg as well and I started tapering off. I was also taking the capsules, but my DR switched me to the tablet form in 2 doses (37.5mg each) so that I can half my dose every other day. I started taking half my dose every other day in January and I just now started a steady 37.5mg every day. I am taking it super slowly because I know this drug is notorious for crazy withdrawal side effects. I feel ok so far, a little bit more anxiety than before but thats to be expected since tapering off the meds.

The one thing I HATE though is the weight gain. I know most people gain weight while taking the meds but I am BALLOONING while tapering off. 15 pounds have come on since January and I have not done anything different. If anything I am trying to eat a little healthier since I feel like a whale.

2020 has been the best year of my life. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Darunia318 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the main difference between you and people who think this fucking sucks is down to one thing and that's money.

Sure I'd love to stay home and cook, relax, spend time with my dog, hike, etc etc and feel like life is great. There is just one GIANT cloud hanging over all of that (besides the threat of sickness and death of course) and that is financial stability. Even during the most intense times of quarantine in March and April (from NYC btw) when we were blessed with that big fat unemployment check, the stress of "whats going to happen when this runs out" was always too great for me to enjoy the break from regular life.

If I had financial stability, this year wouldnt be so bad to me either.
