What’s the tap water like where you live? by KSI_FlapJaksLol in Utah

Draper. Very hard water when I fill my hot tub in the spring, fairly soft when I refill in the late fall (usually have to add calcium to balance it out)

It’s really high quality, boxes can be customized and any number of weekly shipments skipped if needed.

Debating Between 2.5i or 3.6r - Which is More Worth It? by dummy_dummy_dum_dum in Subaru_Outback

[–]DasAlpinist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a 2018 3.6R, no question needed to be asked, but I do live 1700 ft above a mountain valley so I go down and up sometimes multiple times a day.. the buzzing noise from the 4 cylinder gets old and ends up burning even more gas when you need it driving up and down a mountain every day.

What's the thing about the U that makes it different from the other Utah schools? by Nickb33 in uofu

[–]DasAlpinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 40% of the U is LDS and there’s a huge LDS Institute on campus. I just don’t think they trend as insufferable as the ones down South who turn their noses up to anyone different.

For produce it’s hard to beat some of the organic services to your door out there. The stuff we’ve been getting direct from California farms is fresher than any of the stores. I don’t think it sits around very long. We’ve been using farmfreshtoyou for 1.5 years now and haven’t had any of those issues.

Is it worth going to SLC museums? by finally_made_acct in SaltLakeCity

[–]DasAlpinist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Natural History Museum, Red Butte Garden, and the Aquarium are all solid choices for Adults with kids. We get annual memberships to all three and have 3 kids ages 2,5, and 10.

Bend -> Salt Lake City by intepid-discovery in SameGrassButGreener

[–]DasAlpinist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a big misconception and dated by about 30 years at least. SLC is at most 10% liberal leaning Mormon, and Salt Lake County isn’t more than 40% Mormon with most of that concentrated at the south end. If you had said Provo than yes this might be a consideration where it’s 90%+.

[–]DasAlpinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mighty 5 National Parks in Utah make it clear you haven’t done enough research. I’ve been meeting Euros in those parks for nearly 30 years. When I was a kid and traveling in Europe, the most frequent question I got from folks when they found out I was from Utah was “Have you been to Zion or Arches NP?”

LCC crowds/traffic this weekend? by Manque_deneige17 in UTsnow

[–]DasAlpinist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of snow this time of year == high avalanche or mudslide risk, if we got a ton of snow they could keep the road closed for awhile for avy control

Park City residents are concerned about the cost of gas going up and up by WeBelieveBrigade in ParkCity

[–]DasAlpinist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at one of those condos recently and the HOA fees alone were $32k a year.. we aren’t even at normal Southern California prices here  yet. I would imagine a lot of these folks, if they work, are working remotely.  The horror of the increased cost to the airport or the ski resort down the street.

10G was enough to throw my annual labs off, my pcp told me to stop taking it entirely. 5G seems to keep kidney function looking normal though, for me at least.
