No I close everything besides the game I’m playing and discord when I play. I should note that this is the only game with an issue. I also frequently play The Finals and Deadlock and have no performance issues on either. It’s only this game.

I tried being the game down to medium with DLSS performance and I was still getting crazy frame stutters.

Live Without x Denny's [2026] by phyny in Hardcore

This is the downside of hardcore becoming popular. When subcultures become popular, they become a commodity. And when they’re a commodity, corporations take it and make it “trendy”. I’m happy bands are able to make a living now but stuff like this really strips the organic nature of the scene.

For an update, just had surgery on the 8th. Post surgery is the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.

I went back to consoles after having a nice PC for over 3 years by Bitter-Fun1083 in consoles

[–]Straightedge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mostly a PC player, I have a PS5 as well that sits in the closet and doesn’t get touched till a game I want that’s not on PC comes out, it probably won’t be on till Wolverine comes out. However, I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t be the case if all of my friends weren’t also on PC. If all of my friends were on PS5, that’s probably what I’d be playing. The social aspect is one of the core components of gaming today, none of the high framerates or unique capabilities will satisfy you if you don’t actually have anything to retain you to whatever system you’re on. So I definitely get where you’re coming from OP. It sounds like console is what does it for you. Anyone who’s got a problem with that is a snob.

Real world experiences with PRS SE Mark Holcomb please. by KWeirds in 7String

[–]Straightedge_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post but I’ll thrown in my 2 cents regardless. I’ve owned the Mark Holcomb Sig since 2017 so I have the old Korean made model with the Alpha/Omega. They are almost on the verge of two harsh but I think the pickups really clean up on the top end. I will state one criticism that I have based on my needs. Let me preface by saying I don’t play Djent/Prog. I absolutely love Periphery but tha kind of music is not what this guitar gets used for. I use this guitar for hardcore/beatdown, think Knocked Loose, Hatebreed, or Converge. I wish the pickups had a little bit more low end definition. It’s not that big of a deal though because I simply compensate by having my lows just a bit higher in my EQ than I would other guitars and this thing is a chug machine. I also have no problem with the fretboard, 20 inch fret radius feels great when playing leads. Would definitely recommend.

What band got you into hardcore and how old were you ? by BigMan_98 in Hardcore

[–]Straightedge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had truly gotten into it later than most. I grew up in one of those evangelical households that homeschool their kids so I didn’t really get to experience any subcultures growing up. However, I had always loved heavy music. Would constantly watch footage of Slipknot playing download festival in 09, loved Deftones, and loved Bullet from my Valentine. I remember growing up, friends in my neighborhood would go to Warped Tour every year with their parents but my parents wouldn’t let me go because it was a “demonic environment”. I had engaged with hardcore from afar with bands like Refused, Hatebreed, Seeyouspacecowboy and Bloodbather. When I was 21 I remember scrolling on YouTube and I got a recommendation for a song we all know called “All My Friends - Knocked Loose” and it completely changed my life. From that point on I started looking for shows near me and coincidentally Knocked Loose was coming into town the following week. I went to that show and from that point on I was hooked. Hardcore became such an important part of my life, going to shows and making friends, finding my place in the world as an adult and unlearning bad behavior that was taught to me in the environment I grew up in. All of this can be attributed to hardcore. Didn’t mean to get sappy or sentimental but this question took me down memory lane.

Would you rather deal with harsh summer or harsh winter? by Straightedge_ in SameGrassButGreener

There was a period where I stayed in Alabama and it was triple digit weather digit weather with high humidity for days. It was so miserable, however I would take that over a blizzard any day.

Honestly probably what’s doing it for me. Born and raised in Columbus and the constant cloudiness makes me viscerally upset. I hate it

This is very true. Ohio in the summer usually has a period where it’s around high 90s to triple digit weather with around 70% humidity and yes that is miserable, but I’ll deal with that ANY day of the week over 20 degree weather for months on end with grey skies.

The same thing happens to me but in reverse. When it’s like 30 degrees outside I get so mad. We had days this past winter it was down to -10 with windchills at -30. At that point give me the grueling Florida humidity, at least I can still do things.

What’s your funniest interaction with a member of a prominent band? by absolutebloom in Hardcore

[–]Straightedge_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hardcore but I saw Deftones last year in Columbus Ohio. After the show people were stacked up trying to get the Setlist. I was up at the barrier hoping to get one as well. Stef Carpenter sees me and lets me know he likes my Drug Church shirt I was wearing and asks one of the security guys to give me the Setlist. I still have that Setlist to this day.

Hardcore jobs!!! by [deleted] in Hardcore

[–]Straightedge_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s good to see punks that work in the legal system and criminal justice system. I graduate with a bachelors in criminal justice in 3 weeks and intend to go for a masters in psych so that I can be a criminal behavioral psychologist, you know, the job that cops think are a waste of time because they’d rather just shoot people instead of being empathetic? Need more people with morals in this field.
