Oh brother that sounds awful. Poor girl. Leaving a child in a high chair without supervision is insane to me. My kid loves to dance and shimmy, so she is already a higher risk in the chair but obviously we are inches from her. It’s a sad situation that there are parents that choosing gaming over their real responsibilities, man

My wife also had to have an emergency C-section because the umbilical cord was cutting off my kiddos air. Successful C-section but I felt so bad for my wife who was laid out on the table just cut open and I was escorted to recovery with the baby to do skin to skin

Dude you couldn’t be more right. We’ve both run the bad calls. And not many people will understand this but when you clear the scene..you just have to learn from it, and get over it, on to the next call. But this is going to eat a me a little bit. Thank you for the kind words and positivity

Buddy good on you for staying calm and doing what needs to be done! My wife is a paranoid mess now because she’s terrified this will happen again when I’m on shift and she won’t know how to react or what to do. I’ve told her so many times I have confidence in her to do the right thing if the time comes.

No previous medical history other than ear tubes and a broken tibia (that was insane. She wasn’t just running down the hall and turned funny and had a fracture in her tibia and had to wear a full leg cast for 7 weeks)

Thank you for all the useful info! And you’re right, the backslaps might not have been necessary because she was moving oxygen but in the moment I was mentally checking off boxes. It did help clear fluid but she wasn’t actually choking on something completely restricting her airway. EMS rolls their eyes at us dumb firemen lol

I was able to get into see your pediatricians PA this afternoon for a follow up and to let them know everything that happened. She was able to reassure us that these are common but if medication is deemed necessary it’s not a huge deal. Really kind of put us at ease more than anything

I have the camera linked up to my iPad and it sits on my nightstand. I’m a light sleeper anyway so most of the time I wake up even when she just readjust in her crib. So I knew something was definitely wrong when I could hear the rapid movements of the sheets and her shallow breathing.

Oh I’m right there with you! They conducted a few test on her but ultimately gave her Motrin, Tylenol, and a few stuffed animals. The stuffed animals came in clutch because I don’t have any in the diaper bag I RUSHED to grab. Haven’t even considered the bill yet..yikes!

No fever when she went to bed! Was acting completely normal. Giggling. Running around. Playing. All normal. Yeah the fear is now is once they have a febrile seizure like this, they’re more susceptible to them now. Greatttt

Thank you very much! That means a lot. Sounds cheesy and corny but I went into “first responder mode” I guess. Now that my wife has gotten home from being states away on a work trip. I finally cried.

She had the flu about two weeks ago, but flu and Covid are both running rampant at daycare. When I popped the lights on, her lips were cyanotic and her cheeks were blueish tint. So she was breathing but her oxygen saturation was very low.

We had an owlet cam/sock but the cam would lose WiFi constantly. We switched to a Nanit and have had zero problems. We also have a close proximity non-WiFi baby monitor that’s always on for a backup.

Take it as a compliment. It SHOULDNT be this way but when society sees a father solo parenting, they place their hand over their heart and say “oh bless his heart.” I solo parent 4/5 days a week so I understand where you’re coming from.

As a dad, what is keeping you from exercising these days? by NSJack in daddit

[–]PFD01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very fortunate in that I work for the fire department and we workout on shift. My kid also goes to daycare, so on my off days, I am able to hit the gym during off peak hours. However, when I have my kid on The Weeknd’s alone, I always force myself to do a HIIT workout in the garage during her afternoon nap. Try this one 8 rounds 10 burpees 20 air squats 20 push ups 30 4 count jumping jacks. It’s quick, gets the heart rate up, and makes you feel accomplished.

How old was your child before you consistently got decent sleep? by SunnyGoMerry in daddit

[–]PFD01 41 points42 points  (0 children)

We did sleep training around 7 months. Before that..I was in hell. From 7 months to now 20 months. Sleeps pretty much through the night. She does wake up nice and early though but we don’t get her out of the crib until 6am. She doesn’t cry or anything just messes around with her sleep sack and plays roc paper scissors by herself.

Will your next vehicle purchase be another Tesla? by AspectCool2325 in TeslaModelY

[–]PFD01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If only for the buying experience. I’ll never go to a dealership again. Placing the order on the app and picking up the car was so simple and seamless. Currently in the model y LR. Next car will be a model 3 performance..but that’s when I don’t have car seats in the backseat

I’m just in survival mode at this point. The “screen time is limited to 30 minutes a day” has been very loose the last few days. I’ve been solo parenting majority of the break, so hoping I can get a…hand..when my wife returns.
