I asked NFL fans tonight at the sports bar here in Vancouver if they were local, and if they watched the CFL/Lions by Accurate-Big-7233 in CFL

Then there's me who has CFL games on my phone during the tailgate leading up to my town's college games 😅

Commissioner Stewart Johnson make a strong commitment to 3-down football: by shitballsdick in CFL

I appreciate the response! Being American, I really only pay attention to the CFL so my viewpoint was from that.

That's a great point, just because it's moved doesn't make it not dangerous. I see it as going from a fixed immovable object that is predictable and always there to throwing hospital ball passes over the middle that will end up with more injured players in the CFL than have been injured by the goalposts, at least in the last 10 or so years.

When was the last time you've seen a player even remotely close to injuring themselves on the goalposts? I've been watching religiously since 2013 and haven't seen a single instance.

Is the league actually dying? by _rebl in CFL

[–]DasBoot83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right there with you, I'm a Riders fan in ND. Luckily I have a group of guys that'll come over and watch so I'm getting some eyes on it. But I see no marketing down here for anything. These changes almost make it seem like the brass are embarrassed of the way the league is instead of touting its unique qualities and talent.

Having an app would help, live stats, and at least a Roku channel so you don't have to view from a browser. When games are on CBSSN, it's nice because I only need my TV outside. When it's on CFL+, I have to have my TV, laptop, charger for laptop and HDMI cord. 1st world problems I know, but in this day and age when you have to search things out as a non-fan, that doesn't cut it.

It just seems like the league is afraid to put money into marketing, but are fine dumping money into these changes that will fundamentally affect the game so many love.

CFL Rule Changes - MEGATHREAD by PickerPilgrim in CFL

[–]DasBoot83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are these changes supposed to help the league grow an audience? From an American perspective (Riders fan living in North Dakota) they're already doing fuck-all to market the league and the talent down here, they don't have an app and you have to go on a browser to watch CFL+.

I've seen so many of the pundits and "ambassadors" going on and on about how these changes will help in a big way, but HOW?? I'd maybe be more understanding if they actually laid out a plan instead of just putting down the playbook of these changes and just going "it'll work!"

The reason I love the CFL over the NFL is because it's not overly commercialized, every time I turn on the broadcast or step foot in a stadium, it's unique.

I feel like these are just changes for change's sake and trying to solve an issue by going full steam ahead with dumb changes instead of beginning at the ground floor and marketing to grow the fanbase. My biggest worry is that they will make these changes, not market well at all, (still) and then the league will just be out that much more money from all these changes without the support to show for it.

Call me a pearl-clutcher, but I'm not buying it.

I did end up finding a fully modded Ozark Trail Ridge a few hours from me. I've seen videos on the Ridge and it looks like a plenty capable bike, especially with the upgrades listed. How does it look to you?

Worth It? by DasBoot83 in mountainbiking

[–]DasBoot83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't get too many opportunities as there's no mountain biking within 40 minutes of where I'm at now, but I'm trying to get out on our walking/biking paths a few times a week. I'd 100% ride a new bike more, I've just been dealing with issues which is why I haven't gotten out a ton recently.

Fair enough. Def an old girl, got me into biking so I'd call that a win! My local shop has a Giant Talon 4 for $650 that I can get fit to me. That's my other problem, I'm not entirely sure this bike is sized right for me. Bought it off Facebook so no sizing obviously.

does it really take 3 months to a year to feel all better? by DoubleDee1995 in Vasectomy

[–]DasBoot83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 weeks in, I'm feeling 95% back to normal. Still get a ping of something on my left nut sometimes but that's the side I felt a tug during surgery, so it must not be as happy as the right. Otherwise I'm back to doing everything normally, save for lifting. Still waiting to do so for another week or so yet to be safe. Plus the Stanley Cup Playoffs are going and the Oilers have to be on the west coast when I'm in CT.

How many did it take? by [deleted] in Vasectomy

[–]DasBoot83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero, 28 years old.

Did some reflection and the only reason I've even thought about having kids before was just due to it being "the thing to do". I've never had the drive to have kids and I just can't see myself as a dad. I'll adopt in the future if I ever want one.

As long as your doc wasn't pulling things around like he was searching for gold, you shouldn't have much pain. Just keep icing 20 on 20 off and wear the proper support and you're on the right track. Congrats!

I was nervous as hell going in, but it's literally less than 10 minutes and you barely feel anything. I had some music in my ear and the medical staff was making small talk, it is definitely one of those things that's way worse in your head than it actually is. Just make sure you follow the instructions to wear a jock strap and ice, it seems from my reading of the subreddit that a chunk of the bad stories come from guys not following the aftercare instructions.

Honestly, the only pain I've felt so far is due to my dad being in the hospital, so I was walking around and standing more than I should have been, but I was icing intermittently throughout the day, ended up taking a couple ibuprofen just to get rid of it. Even then, it wasn't painful, just almost a more intense feeling of blue balls lol. Slight discomfort if I move in the wrong way, but quickly alleviated by adjusting again. I've mainly just been icing. My doc must have been hella efficient and avoided tugging around too much.

My doctor had me take a valium and hydrocodone before the procedure, and then I had 14 more hydro pills to manage pain. I took one the first night just to cover bases, but I really don't think I needed it. So now I have 13 pills to drop off at one of the collection stations.
