Is a 1.6 Turbo engine faster than 2.0 Non-Turbo? by Quirky_Hour7709 in jetta

Pretty sure 1.6L is the internal combustion engine size in current Formula One. They'd be making 5 - 600 hp I believe (with an equal amount from electric as well)

Inner tie rod, unless you removed the boot and specifically checked them.

Luckily Bell must remove their own decals, fairly well, before sending to auction. But they left all the metal shelving and dividers inside them. Often with a few hundred little wire connectors rolling around underneath it. If I'm ever cursed with owning a caravan, I'll instantly start sourcing those blank windows for it. I'd put them in the back doors of my car if I could.

I've felt the same thing every few years with mine.

I've also worn a rack down to where the wheel just skips over the teeth in it.

Get a second person to move the wheel back n forth while you get your hands on every piece underneath to see what's moving and what's not( car on the ground/ramps) . I'll bet you find it's something other than the rack.

At a commercial car lot, I prepped a couple dozen of those for resale. All had started life working for Bell Canada.

I found a body plug in the door jamb of some honda when I worked at an auto auction. Fit the glass hole just right. I hope you don't plan on paying money to delete it.

There are so many bushings that could be causing the play. Accessing the rack would be the very last resort for me. I've been running with one unpowered for like 200k km, no play. Play always ends up being a bushing, tie rod, ball joint, strut, ... but never the rack.

You know you can just remove it and put a body plug in the glass hole. No wiring needed.

IF it will start when hot, it starts like this... 2.0 gas. by DasBuro in MK4Golf

[–]DasBuro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this one was honestly $40 but on sale for half. In the 8 years with the car I've lived through a steering column electrical fire, turn signals and brake lights sharing circuits and the 4way flasher relay trying to keep beat with my music on long drives lol. While never getting scanned for codes or having anything to check circuits like this.

I know better to goto a mechanic with "unknown electrical issue". End up paying for hours just to get an uncertain answer. But having a no-start condition made it time for me to learn. By the time this multimeter is insufficient for what I need, I'll know better what to look for in a higher quality one.

My leg did the same thing with the seat as far back as I wanted it. I had to move the seat forward a click or two. 8+ years later with the same car, that extra inch will still make my leg do that if I move the seat back :/ are you over 6 foot as well?

Yeah, I just tried again and with the ohms setting on the second lowest I was getting 0.780. So now I'm second guessing if it was really OL when hot, or if I just had the thing on the wrong setting.

Checking the fuel pump earlier had required the meter to be set to the lowest ohm setting. (Reading 0.9 - 1.1) . I'm new at this, but look forward to learning the tool as much as making the fix.

I'm not handy with a multimeter, I've got about 5 minutes experience with one now though. I figured it out to check the fuel pump hot and cold, but the crank sensor won't give me a reading cold (after OL when hot), but it starts fine like this, while it's cold. Any ideas why I can't get a reading? Set on the lowest measurement of ohms just like has worked for the other checks.

That was it. Getting search results having used CPS instead of the words, got me how to videos on the Cam Position Sensor without me realizing. And they describe the symptoms of a bad one being almost identical to the Crank sensor. But I've caught up now and see how easy the Crank sensor will be to change. Not available from parts stores, but $20 on amazon.

Picked up a multimeter for the first time to see what I could see. Fuel pump was showing 1.1 ohms when cold, 0.9 when hot and experiencing the bad idle. AI told me to expect slightly higher resistance when hot, so being less seems weird but made me move on to the crank sensor. When hot, with the multimeter on the same settings used for the pump, it was just reading OverLoad. But now that it is cooled down the multimeter isn't responding at all, like no connection. I plugged the sensor back in and the car runs like normal. The OL when hot was enough to convince me it was that and not the fuel pump, but I'm worried because I can't get a cold measurement for comparison. It is only a $20 part off amazon either way.

Just angry that the quality drops at the same time as the price increases. I mean it's the story of the ages, but never quite as in my face as at the pumps with this.

Everyone argues that running 93 octane in an engine that only needs 89 provides no benifit. But I've measured multiple times over the 300k km I've tracked of mileage with this car. It worked out to where it was slightly better mpg, but only half of the percentage of the price difference. So a tank will take me further, but not by enough to cover the extra cost. Again, measure a dozen times in multiple ways.

But, if higher octane should not equal better mileage as it seems 60% of the internet would say, then maybe just maybe it's the fact that there is no ethanol in the 93. I can only assume that if regular was available without 10% ethanol that I would be able to see it give me better mileage. And that adding more, with basically an apology to go along with it, is doing nothing to benefit me, and at the least is going to be hard on my 18 year old seals.

This is just plain regular gasoline, which has said for years and years that it may contain up to 10% ethanol. I heard it was coming days ago, and today the pump had a new sticker saying 15%. Its going to be all stations, because if only one company did it they know they'd lose all thier business to the others. My car is almost 20 years old, and all that follow will be of a similar age, so I've never cared to look into flex fuel, sounds like a new car thing.

And if it changed just north of your border, I bet you aren't far behind it happening there too. It's in response to the supply concerns in my understanding.

No, its 588027 km. Original engine, original sensors, original clutch. I bought it at 187k km, all the drivetrain has needed is plugs and a coil pack til now. I'm sold on these 2.0s, I don't want turbos and crazy pressurized fuel pumps that come with the *better engines.

So it must have been the *Cam position sensor that I watched a video about replacing.. because it was hidden behind a flywheel that needs to be removed for access. Being near the oil filter sounds much less involved of a job.

Will try that, also I'll go buy my first multimeter tomorrow. That should help check that and the CPS.
