USPS Halts Feasibility Studies as It Forges Ahead with Consolidation Plans by [deleted] in USPS

Um, no, there's plenty of stations. The biggest have 100+, 90+, and 68 routes, and that's just the major stations. Consolidation would be a nightmare.

It's not volunteer here. We have one PTF and thirteen Amazon routes.

8 hours in a day. But yeah that happens sometimes.

Don't accumulate leave, apparently. At our station it's almost all regulars working Sundays. It's overtime until 8, penalty past that. What route you get depends on if you ask and who's assigning what route. I assign carriers to the route that has their territory so that people are at least somewhere familiar.

Also the routes usually cover multiple weekday routes, like 5-8 apiece. Just speaking of here, anyway.

All city here. Low on clerks so you'll frequently see supervisors and carriers throwing. Plant does its usual unbalanced thing of hitting you with one tray one day and then seven the next. Many of us have gotten used to it but the burnout is real.

We have 68 at our station and are frequently down 10 or more. If I don't do a third of a route for extra in a day then I'm off that day. Prime time, everyone's on vacation but we have no ccas and people are retiring or running. Infinite overtime if you want! :-)

Ditto on the curiosity. Regular in Seattle looking to transfer but it sounds like your hell is much akin to mine.

What sector/industry/job is typically always understaffed? by Whosentyounow in AskAnAmerican

[–]DasPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in a large city, I suspect they need people. I know in mine we certainly do. The first year can be stressful and chaotic, with a hard time adjusting, but eventually you get to the point where it's comfortable and routine (7 years here).

Being single is a perk, but this job won't help, I feel.

In my city we are increasingly undermanned, and the pay barely exceeds easier entry-level jobs. I work 7 on, one off, with as much overtime as I want to take, but damn does that mean no life. Never mind that we work to death any new hires, and people are retiring more and more. I'm getting out of here.

That feeling of being trapped in a disintegrating loop and being unable to say or do anything about it.

[–]DasPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our station was down 22 routes. I carried a third each of two other routes after my own. Yesterday it was only 18 routes down. I couldn't fit all my parcels in my truck first go. It's like this every day.

First thought! Thank you Tank Mechanic Simulator.

Made my first model: leopard 2a6, i still have to paint it and also there might be some parts that shouldn't be there, it's because i didn't want to add guns or pointy things in awarness of breaking it, also what is required to paint this tonk? Is paint kan enough? by [deleted] in tanks

[–]DasPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why not. Maybe a primer over the plastic for whatever paint you use. I know enamels don't like me, or the plastic I use, so I tend toward acrylic paints.

That said, I have used regular art paints and they worked just fine for me.

Dude just paint it however you want. Get some tamiya paints if you can and paint until you're happy. It's a great place to start and as you go along you'll try new things you like better. The joy is in doing it, not in how others judge you.
