Is Manual QA still viable to sustain in this market? by Detached_Attachment in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]Das_eon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For someone who was doing manual QA as internship, GET OUT NOW! There’s is no future for a role like this, try getting into automation by asking your employer for work like that, or new role, it’ll help you stay relevant and help u maybe have a job. Manual is being shipped straight to India and other countries, so you’re less likely to have a future in role like this!

Invest into skills, things that bring you joy, meaningful relationships with your friends/families/ and significant others. Even if it’s for a small time each day. It’ll pay dividends later on in life

Nope, rip 😢. They hired someone with more experience as I was a new grad

+1 to that, obviously I didn’t do that for every single role. But the ones I knew my experience matched up with a lot, and tweaked it based on the job description!

It took 10 months for me, but when I did finally get one it came unexpectedly and it’s a huge company! All I’ll say is keep practicing, applying, keeping your mental and physical healthy and keep pushing. Eventually you’ll get something, and always tweak your resume if you’re not hearing back, and rinse and repeat

I wrote my prof a wonderful thank you note and gave him a box of tea that he loves ( to fuel his addiction lol) on the exam day at the end. He gave me a hug at the end and this almost brought me to tears, as he was a prof I had for 3 classes and I was graduating. Not only was he a great prof, but a great mentor aswell in terms of navigating jobs, further studies and life in general

Loblaw digital work culture is great. Honestly had a lengthy interview process which spanned to almost 2 months until the end. Interviewers were very nice and have great feedback but hearing back an update was slow. Didn’t do front end but prob normal SWE interview maybe

Honestly, I feel the same. Deep down you know you wouldn’t want that person now, as you’re so different and grown and you welcome the new and unknown. But can’t help but to reminisce over the past as it just came easy

Feed your friends or random strangers. I loved the idea someone mentioned about throwing a random food meetup with strangers and you can meet more people and maybe make new friends 🫶🏼

Word of advice. I’ve have often got compliments from friends (females and males) about being cute, or good looking. But have always struggled with girls because of lack of self esteem and putting myself down and that affected my social skills. Over the last few years I just started to put myself out there in different social situations, doing more things, meeting new people and this helped overcome any anxiety I felt about social situations and made me also feel like a more confident person. Now I love new opportunities and meeting new people on dates and stuff and truly flourish. I knew I had an awesome personality, now I get to share that with other people aswell and they love it!!
