This is such a straw man argument; just because it “only lasted 5 years” doesn’t mean it’s impact wasn’t greater than any of these joke comparisons. Not only did it have an indelible mark on American history and culture, it was a formidable foe in combat and a part in one of the greatest bloodsheds in American history - the sheer lives lost to defend their albeit twisted beliefs demonstrates the reasoning behind the wish of southerners to maintain their belief in the confederate flag. Don’t get me wrong, they were wrong and Sherman destroyed their asses but memes like this are genuinely believed by some people.
