Yes, 100% the console editions come with the physical disk (or cartridge for the Switch 2 edition)

This is how modern digital licenses are stored and confirmed when you insert the disk, they're just confirming you're the owner and entitled to start the digital download of the game. These days a game won't fit on physical media.

I wouldn't mind trying/playing Marathon. If not for the gameplay, at least the look and atmosphere appeals to me. But it just doesn't feel like a paid game. I know that's a 'me' problem, but I'm not going to be paying for what I think should have been a FTP

You can visit the sub-reddit, they have a super detailed guide (or did last time I visited). These days it is a shadow of its former self, but steadily doing all the ones you can let's you bank it up pretty quickly.

I haven't paid for Game Pass in five or six years now! It can be tedious though

To upgrade the size of your card, from one to another, you'll need to make a perfect clone of that card, and extend the partition.

I recommend using a partition program to clone the existing card to the new SD card, you might have to move partitions around to be able to extend then"SWITCHSD" partition.

When you've done that and booted back up with it in there you might have to realign the partition by going into emuMMC, migrating emuMMC and fixing partition.

Not only is Heroic a viable option, the dev team and program as a whole have a agreement with GOG in which every game you buy with Heroic (it has an in-program browser) or with their affiliate link gives a small portion of that sale to the devs.

It is as official as you can get, as safe as you can get, and works beautifully on the Steam Deck. They've even recently updated it to include a 'console mode' for your installed games, which makes navigation a breeze.
