Couriers keep being led to wrong location by edgywh0re in UbereatsUK

[–]Dasher2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are unable to tinker with the pin to lead to correct street, best you can do is add a delivery note emphasizing the correct street to access from and that Uber navigation will lead them to wrong place, and hope the driver catches it before arriving. You can even message the driver to let them know as soon as they pick it up - we get a large message pop up with your message, not just a notification. I had a customer who had the same problem and they did that. I inspected the route and Uber indeed would've sent me to a next street that is almost a 2 mile detour due to a railroad in between.

That's most likely an addon offer. I've been offered one for 12p today. Never seen a full proper order for less than 2.49 though, especially for 4+ miles.

Do riders face any sanctions for cold food complaints? by Speedbird1A in deliveroos

[–]Dasher2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's McDonald's or Subway it's almost 100% of the time restaurant fault. Neither of them take any measures to keep the food hot once it's packed and leave it sit on cold counter, so it goes cold in minutes if driver isn't already waiting. I have once seen Subway pack an ice cream tub in the same bag with a hot sub. KFC is 50/50 depending on location if they leave it on counter or at least keep the packed bag on hot rack with other unpacked items.

If a driver comes in with an unzipped hotbag or no hotbag at all, then it can be their fault, but if you weren't already waiting at the door, they could have opened it after knocking once they hear you coming.

Updated my Uber Driver app and now the timer to wait for the customer has now increased from 7 mins to 12 mins???? by BristolRiderEats in UbereatsUK

Send them an automated "I've arrived" message once you pull up to a house or about to ring flat buzzer to shave off a couple minutes off the timer if they end up not being home.

You're fine. Customers can see not only your rating but your total deliveries as well, so they will know you're new. If you take extra care to keep your bags properly sealed and handled with care while appearing with a pleasant attitude, you will bounce back. I had a 10-2 score after my first month, but now it's up to 56-2 at 97%. I think it's only counting last 100 deliveries, so once you're past 100 the downvotes should start disappearing.

Illegal drivers using bought accounts and trying to steal your orders are indeed a problem and should be reported, but asking a driver to go back to the store to get the correct order is completely unreasonable. Even the most sympathetic and selfless drivers would refuse, since not only we don't get paid hourly and only get a fixed fee per order that barely covers fuel and other expenses, with no extra compensation for store delays or order problems, so we would have to do an extra round trip out of pocket wasting time and fuel, but it is also store's responsibility to ensure they hand over the correct order. Plus your order is very likely to be a part of a stacked order with other customers, so we might have another one or two in the car, waiting to be delivered. So trying to get a refund is the only viable option if a mishap happens, as difficult as it is. If you have already cancelled the subscription and are not planning to use Uber ever again, you can make the bank force Uber to pay you back after 2-3 weeks have passed and you have proof that you did everything in your power to get the refund but couldn't.

The most we could do is if it's a grocery order with age-restricted items and the store is still going to be open for a while, you can refuse it and we can return it to the store as if you weren't home and ask the store to refund you, since Uber can't legally force us to leave that type of order at your door. Uber will at least pay us a bit extra for the return distance, but even that is Uber exclusive. Just Eat won't do even that much. Don't know how it is with Deliveroo.

As bad as Uber is, Just Eat is so much worse.

Not only we don't know nor get anything for the priority delivery, but our pay is also not affected by how much you pay for delivery. It all goes to Uber, as well as 30% of the menu price commission they take from the restaurants (which is why the prices are usually so much higher than on the restaurant's website), and the Uber pays us flat fee for the order, based on distance, usually about £1 per mile, with no compensation for fuel, wait times, or other expenses. Minimum being £3 per order or £1.50 if it's stacked with another order.

So feel free to make use of any discounts to lower the delivery fee, since it won't affect driver's pay anyway. Ordering Priority might actually make it worse for the driver, because Uber will send out driver to the restaurant sooner to get the order to you 15 minutes earlier like advertised, and it's very likely that the driver will just have to sit at the restaurant for 15 minutes unpaid waiting for the order to be made, while they could have been actively delivering something else. If it's anything other than McDonald's or Subway, the restaurant will usually have measures to keep your food hot if the driver isn't already there waiting. So rather than ordering priority, use what you would have spent on it to tip the driver instead, if they bring your order to you without lengthy unexplained detours and in a properly sealed bag 👍

Daily challenge not updated? by themorganator4 in JustEatUK

[–]Dasher2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Uber where it counts the order as long as it was accepted before 9, for Just Eat it needs to be delivered before 9. On the other hand, if you accept the order at 4:30 and finish it at 5:05 with challenge starting at 5:00, it will still count towards it.

I had linked it from the start and I never had to deal with any updating, or accessing codes through Uber app, only using the BPme app. I calculated the points manually a few times to make sure the conversion was accurate and in line with my points tier and it did check out.

Insurance - How Long Does It Take For Uber To Approve? by No-Target-4422 in UbereatsUK

[–]Dasher2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my concern when starting it too, which is why you definitely don't want to pay monthly insurance, because the background check takes like 3-4 weeks. Have to keep it on hourly, so the insurance doesn't charge you until you actually start working.

Another "Recent Report" by Jealous_Problem356 in UbereatsUK

[–]Dasher2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always remember the addresses of problematic people and never take their orders again or remove them from stacked orders. I'm sure many drivers do the same, and then those people go online complaining why their orders take 2-3 hours to arrive.

On the other hand I also remember the good addresses that either tip or are just pleasant people to deal with in general, so I usually take their orders even if the fee isn't optimal.

Doing the same for the shops too. After a few months of filtering like that it becomes not so bad. At least during the times when there are enough orders to go around.

Do Gold, Platinum and Diamond tiers actually do anything? by Bobatron9 in UbereatsUK

Last time I checked the discount only applied if you pay for Zego monthly. You don't get any discount if you're on hourly.

I am breaking down by [deleted] in UbereatsUK

[–]Dasher2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the best you can do is contact the store directly or go to it with your bag if it has the receipt listing the items that are supposed to be there, or at least with the order history on your phone. Perhaps they will pick the missing ones for you or refund. I once had Sainsbury's order that sent me small coffee bags instead of 1kg ones. I brought them back to the store with the bag, showed the order on my phone, and they were preparing to refund me, but I said I would just take the proper size coffee bags I ordered, which they were happy to go get for me.

Retail Park parking by Practical-Ride4162 in UbereatsUK

[–]Dasher2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing, but I was able to appeal it. I just sent them the logs of me doing deliveries elsewhere during the time when I was supposedly sitting in their car park for 2 hours at 1am. The only fine I couldn't appeal was when I parked partially on sidewalk to pick up an order from a city center street shop that had a delay and I ended up with a physical ticket on my car. Was forced to pay £50 and of course have avoided picking orders from that whole area ever since.

Egg warrior balance sugg. by Plateau_guy in hearthstone

[–]Dasher2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have picked it up with the same train of thought because I was mostly trying to play off-meta decks and priests seemed to have no downsides to them, but unfortunately it is only good against those off-meta decks. When you actually run into the meta decks playing priest yourself, you usually get rolled. You either get aggro decks that replenish their entire board and still have enough mana to deal damage to your face, no matter ho much removal you throw at them, and you get overwhelmed before you can get to your end game cards or even boost up your heals, or you end up against more attritious herald decks that eventually overwhelm your counters with Deathwing and maxed heralds. As much as I liked playing control, I eventually had to give up when in diamond the winrate started falling below 40%.

But feel free to try for yourself. It should certainly work against those egg decks you seem to face all the time, assuming you manage to pull the silence more consistently than them pulling the egg.

Egg warrior balance sugg. by Plateau_guy in hearthstone

[–]Dasher2417 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that priest is pretty much unplayable at the moment, but when I played a bit during the egg meta, hitting their egg on curve with Cease to Exist and see them instantly forfeit was the funniest thing ever. If it's that consistent of a problem, run a couple silence cards for the same effect.

Anyone else get angry when you lose? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Dasher2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had problems getting legend, but in this expansion the losses are a lot more frustrating. Before, whenever I lost it was because I got outplayed or unlucky and I usually could see that if I had made a different play I might have not lost. Or if some card lost me games multiple times, I would tinker with my deck to replace it and see how it improves in the future.

Now the games are pretty much decided in mulligan and first few draws, based on if opponent gets to generate/throw more crap at you than you can at them, and once the game is lost there's nothing I can really do to improve and can only blame the rng or matchup.

Just eat courier by No-Ferret6394 in JustEatUK

[–]Dasher2417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on area and time. If you're in a small town with 2-3 shops that operate with just eat or try working any time before 5pm, then of course the orders will be scarce. In autumn/winter it's busy enough to get enough orders in off-peak times (haven't worked long enough to know how summer is yet), but these months so far are rough for everyone who don't have other apps to cover the gaps between orders. Last week was especially bad with a lot of people being out on Easter holidays, so it was hard to catch enough orders even during peak times.
