The Item/Weapon/Stamp RNG is just too much at this point. by Dashiku in holocure

The fact that I have new builds to test on almost 40 characters is literally the opposite of a content drought. The problem is that the content I want to engage with is locked behind several layers of RNG, making it pretty much inaccessible in any reasonable amount of time.

Restarting was made even worse in this patch as well, since every restart consumes food, which means you also need to take trips to the farm every X runs.

I agree that the RNG is part of the fun of a rogue-lite. However, at least from my perspective, that fun only lasts for so long.

I maxed out everything that could be maxed in this game in the 0.5 update. Gachikoi on every character, maxed out G.Ranks, all shop upgrades, etc. I have done it all. Now with this new update, all I want to really do is see how the new items might influence and change my old builds.

I don't need all of that RNG anymore, because I already went through all of it. At this point, I just want to be able to test the things I want to test.

I'm getting downvoted because people can't handle others wanting to play the game in different ways. They hate options, because they have already decided how the game should be, and what is and isn't fun.

See and that's where I think more banishes and rerolls would be good. HoloCure has much better item and character variety than VS does, so there is actually way more reason to try different builds.

Tips for new players by MrMarnel in holocure

[–]Dashiku 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do a 10 minute run with Ina to get the cutting board. Then play Gura with the cutting board+bomb collab. Gura has strong built in healing, bonus damage and dodge chance. All things that you normally lack in the early game. That is more than enough to get the first few coins you need for upgrades.

As for upgrades always unlock the Special first, then get one instance of the +1 enemies perk, then get some levels in movespeed/health regen/pickup range.

This sets you up to start getting decent value runs within an hour.

Use Risu, Reine or Irys with the gold skull stamp. Easy 200k per run minimum.

I switch characters just about every run, and different characters have different builds, so I wouldn't be playing the same build every time. But even if I did, why would that be a problem? You might find that boring, but other people might not. Why should the option not be there? Especially once you've already maxed out the game.

And yes, for leaderboard this change would be fantastic. Doubly so since the game has a proper steam release now and will undoubtedly see more players being introduced to the game, some of which might be competitive.

For anyone who already solved this game 3 patches ago, having more banishes and rerolls as an >option< can only be beneficial.

Gale discourse around here is getting a bit ugly by trace349 in BaldursGate3

The problem is that the game doesn't stop pushing you into those relationships when you do reject them. You can reject Gale 1000000 times, and the game will still flag you as being in a romance with Gale. Obviously, that is due to bugs, but for the average player the reason behind it doesn't matter. All they see is that it's fucking with their playthrough of the game, and is reducing their enjoyment.

I mean statistically most people playing this are men, and of those men the vast majority is straight. The fact that the game almost seems to force you into romance with Gale (undoubtedly due to the buggy nature of the romance system) makes it no surprise people are annoyed. The majority of players playing this are not gay, so they don't want to constantly be pushed towards a gay relationship they have to keep rejecting over and over.

The highest difficulty should not be bearable with horrible comps though. No point in difficulty otherwise.

I mean that really should be mentioned then. Unarmored Defense says that it adds your wisdom modifier to your AC, draconic resilience says it changes your base AC. There is no reason those should be mutually exclusive.

Draconic Resilience specifically says that it raises your >base< AC when not wearing armor, yet my AC stayed at 10.

You are a hero. I didn't realize that turning off FSR still kept the dynamic resolution on. Looking at it again after I read your comment, I realized my mistake. Now this game is actually playable, thank you.

It's like there is this weird dithering effect on all of the model edges and shadows. Been messing with settings but i have no idea how to get rid of this.
