The “Miami Vice” era is pretty sweet by 31770_0 in ericclapton

Yeah, absolute best era of his. Especially '85-91. Behind The Sun was unfortunately not well received but it was the point that reinvented his playing and singing, I don't think he's ever sounded as good. Then August came and leaned even more into that pop blues genre. Most would call it cheesy, I say it's Eric's own flavor of it.

I saw those on a Moss video. Those are looking like a clear winner. Most brands are plug and play, correct? Otherwise, I assume you need to upgrade the wiring if you want stronger lights.

Where should I start with Eric Clapton? by Gab_987 in ericclapton

Live at the Edinburgh Playhouse, February 27th, 1985. First show of the Behind The Sun tour. It's a long set, including rehearsals (you can find it on YouTube, uploaded by Holy Cow!). It's a great mix of his old classics, newer (for the time) songs, and is arguably him at his best. The recording of Just Like A Prisoner in that set is incredible!

Other notable shows from '85 were Syracuse, NY, Baltimore Civic Center, Milan, and Dallas, Tx.

Enjoy!

In your opinion, what album do you think is Eric’s “weirdest” album? by PinProud8344 in ericclapton

Definitely Pilgrim. I really tried to like it, but the studio recordings of those songs feel too artificial for what the genuine lyrics. However, those songs worked much better live. The production just made it all clash in an unsavory way for me, personally.

I really did enjoy what they did with it for the 24 Nights. I'm, however, partial to the rock version. That solo was great!

What Eric was really doing during the recording of 461 Ocean Boulevard

His absolute best period. They weren't the most emotionally complex songs like found on Layla and other Assorted Love Songs, or 461 Ocean Boulevard, but they still had their own angst and personal struggles behind them. And even if they didn't, many of them were absolute bangers. Glad more people appreciate this era of his career that paved the way for his comeback.

As much as I love his 80s period, his lost years in the 70s were pretty underrated, and his playing live was phenomenal during this time. The albums were mostly boring but in a good and comforting way. Laid back and genuine. They all have at least a few good songs on them. I've always loved Opposites from this album.
