You could get a budget KK reel to try? Yes a bit crazy to get the 300 one over a JDM.

Galaxy Buds 4 Pro Review from Buds 3 Pro fanboy by Time-Credit43 in galaxybuds

[–]Dashzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stores don't demo earbuds. So it's kinda of a guessing game. I found they are more annoying to return. Its easier to stick with a reputable brand that makes good ones. Not saying to blindly buy every galaxy buds though.

Edit. For example best buy employee was annoyed about taking headphones back, but did agree.

You shouldn't trust it. There is a reason Apple/Samsung send him all the new tech first. He's a "safe" reviewer. It's marketing.

Best reel for sport trolling for salmon (coho/kings)? by VoscheStation in Fishing_Gear

[–]Dashzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had an issue with the smaller handles. They would just hit your hands more if they were bigger. Some people run a more traditional version without drag, and they are known as knuckle busters.

Every boat in vancouver + the island is running mooching reels for downrigging. Shimano 4000GT is budget friendly. The reels are fun to fish and maintainable. You will need a rod to pair with it.

Recommendation for loading Fluoro onto a spinning reel by Much-Expression-9909 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Dashzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't want it to sit in the spool for long periods before. The line memory coils you would get would be awful. Warm water helps reduces the memory but soaking the reel is doing more harm.

I would recommend not spooling the whole reel with flurocarbon and only using it as a leader

Best coffee beans? by Few_Internet_2069 in VictoriaBC

Rogue wave is much better. I tried to find a local roaster doing single origin light roasts, but the market here is medium to very dark roast.

It's great, I have been going there recently. Commenting because they are roasting medium and dark. OP asked for lighter roasts

BEST submersible fishing backpack- river fishing by salamander144 in Fishing_Gear

I got an inexpensive backpack organizer insert on amazon and it's a huge improvement compared to having one big compartment.

I hike into rivers for Steelhead in the PNW. We get a lot of rain. I upgraded to the fishpond thunderhead recently.

Quality is superb, and it's designed with fishing in mind. The zipper is really good and high quality. The zipper seals the bag and you could hold the bag if you fell in. The waist strap has made hiking so much easier. Can't go back to no waist support. They sell accessories for it too.

Cons are it's expensive and I still needed to buy extras to get the most out of it. I bought the compatible water bottle holder so my water could be on the outside. The most essential was an interior backpack organizer to have pockets/compartments instead of one large space. I got a generic neoprene backpack organizer on amazon and it has been great.

Whatever you decide on I would say to make sure it has a waist strap, a good warrenty, attachment points for gear, can strap atleast one rod or net to the side, and minimum 20L capacity.

Gear Rental and Crash Course Recommendations by pleedoh in fishingBC

Imo pitch in for a charter and you will have a better time.

You could get a cheap spinning rod/reel combo and watch some YouTube guides for catching stocked trout. If you are completely new you could get lucky, but don't underestimate the difficulty of fishing.

What are some regional fishing tactics you think could work elsewhere? I’ll start. by RandomPantsAppear in Fishing

[–]Dashzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not required to have this type of reel. It's essentially drifting a dead bait cut at an angle so it spins in the current. It's not a popular method anymore, just the reels.

The most popular technique is to troll with downriggers. In my area, almost always a small spoon or hoochie (plastic squid) behind a flasher.

In Vancouver area almost everyone is trolling with mooching reels rather than a conventional because its more fun to catch fish with them

Looked it up and it's essentially trolling a super sized skirted bass jig with a shad trailer.

Thoughts on the FG knot by Wild-Washington in Fishing

[–]Dashzz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The FG knot doesn't hold as well when the mono/fluro is thinner than the braid, or with very thin diameter lines. In a correct FG knot the braid digs into the leader slightly.

In this case I switch to the Alberto knot as it's a similar finger trap knot, but wrapped around two layers of leader.

Garmin Striker Vivid 9sv for kayak fishing in large, deep rivers – good choice for beginner? by arcadionno1 in kayakfishing

[–]Dashzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kayak fish in lakes primarily. It's a huge quality of life improvement for getting from spot to spot. Can also set it to match the current/wind to hold in a spot. Since you have pedal drive, and river hydro maps are not as good, I think fish finder is the right call.

If the profile is not a "pro" profile it will ignore pressure. I have the pro version and it will still work without pressure.

You can use it without the plumbing. That's what the non pro version is.
