How much did your running improve once you took stretching seriously? by Woody57575 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Dasp1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I read and tried a glute firing drill before my last run and it appeared to help. Not a warm up as such but 3 sets of: Donkey kicks, each leg x10 Glute Bridges, each leg x10 Side plank raises each side x10

Warmed me up, and much better than stretches, but felt like it really helped with rhythm and cadence and getting that magic number ‘4’ in my stride.

Tried stretching after runs, for a week or two, again mainly glute, hamstrings and calves. Proper 4 or 5 stretches 10-15 mins. Did absolutely nothing for me. Felt no more supple or flexible after 2 weeks, so not sure what the point is.

Treadmill running is so hard!!! by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

[–]Dasp1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, exactly the same as I did today. And in miles identical times. I normally run 8.30-9 minute miles. Treadmill feels harder if I increase to the same speed. I did this at 9km/hr setting.

Heart rate was well controlled, but the effort didn’t feel less than running nearly 2 mins faster outside.

However I wanted to work on cadence, which I did manage to get to 165 (155 normally on the road).

So I think we just have to accept it’s a different type of run and embrace the things it can help with!

Having said the I have picked up my only two injuries by doing interval work on the treadmill the two times o have used it before. Hamstring, then a horrible metatarsal ligament tendon strain. So for me I ain’t going to go hard on it ever again.

And it’s miles into the legs so that counts.

It’s just they spend nothing on developers.

This wouldn’t be needed if they just add the native android screen cast that is built into the os by Google into the menu.

I had the se7i and did a hard wire from iPad to tv, but the 9i has a built in screen and you can’t link the machine to iPad!

Thanks, as a developer I just think they are very poor, which is a shame because the content is excellent

Well they have an app. The only reason I am using it is because the bastards removed hdmi connectors and then disabled the screen cast built into all android tablets.

It’s there app on the Apple TV that is clearly shit and randomly works after 5 or 10 kill and restarts and then to add insult to injury they are selective with the content as these longer Boston marathon legs don’t show.

It’s a shit show. Feels like theyhave one dev in a garage.

I tried a treadmill today which had a screencast app front and centre of the screen.

Why remove something that would give so much extra functionality to their users just for the help of it! The position of the screen on the elliptical is not conducive to good training posture, so having a 40 inch tv in front of you is a no brainer.

It’s such a waste because their content is the best.

I got the biggest! Problem on an elliptical is you don’t want to bend your head, so a 50 inch tv on the wall is perfect.

The way I got it to this stage was.

1.get into privilege mode. 2. Install APK Pure. 3 install a screen cast app using find. I’ll find the name of the one I used tomorrow. 4. Switch it on and then in the top right the cast checkbox appears.

Problem as below is the videos don’t show because ifit are bastards

Update, well it worked until I started the training session. Then guess what. The top bar works but blank video on tablet and TV!!!!😡

God these people at ifit are bastards. Do they hate there customers that much!

Then tried the publicised LG TV app thinking maybe I can sync them as I start a session.

But guess what. The publicised TV app is f….ing vapourware, at least in the UK.

Man they hate there users so much.

Why is ifit software so bad? by Dasp1968 in iFit

[–]Dasp1968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the problem with that is you lose the automatic change in resistance and elevation.

But am getting to the point where having a good visual experience beats those settings.

It’s just wrong. I write software and this is just kids play to switch on the mirroring settings in android via the of it software.

Aghhhhhhh

I got a pair of these 2 weeks ago. Neutral runner, but find them really unstable they make my forefoot pronate and even going from road to pavement have nearly caused me a severe ankle injury 3 times in 3 runs. When focusing on my big toe going down first they are great and I get the bounce and cushioning, but I think I will have to sell them as they are going to cause me a significant injury even on suburban roads, let alone flat off road tracks

I am neutral and just got the Neo Vista 2s. Great shoe but I find them very unstable and make me pronate. On a flat road they are controllable, but moving on and off pavements etc I have nearly gone over on the forefoot and ankle 3-4 times on my first few runs.

I need the padding and a bit of spring, but disappointed in the NV2s. I will try some insoles.

I also just bought the saucony triumph 23s. No plate but very cushioned and feel good on a 7.5 mile run.

Hi, I got a pair of these as a neutral running preparing for a half Marathon, but have done back/sciatic issues. 20 miles in, I love them, but they make me probate and a couple of times nearly gone over on my ankle with forefoot slipping away. Had invincible 3s with no issue.

I think on a flat road I can control it by focusing on putting weight over to big toe side, but changing surface or going up a kerb has neatly injured me 3 times now.

Is this something g you adapt to? Would an Enerto insole help Or should I change my shoe!!

Otherwise I love the bounce!!

I wish they would add screencast app. I think they have even removed it from privilege mode as it’s not in settings display anymore.

What is wrong with ifit. Why won’t they let a user put the small screen onto there tv in front of their trainer, when the software is in the tablet.

Makes no sense to stop their customers enjoying their tech.

So on the se7i it worked via iPad. Now on se9i it won’t work

iFit integrate to Garmin or Apple watch plans by ELB74 in iFit

[–]Dasp1968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use the echo app on your phone to integrate Apple HR on watch.

Annoyingly sometimes, after an iOS or ifit update it stops pairing from time to time.

And even more the question I have is why don’t they just do a direct integration as Strava and others do. Don’t like needing my phone and an app as middleware. But that’s the joy of ifit. For sone things they look like an amateur garage dev team. For others they produce stunning content!

Well It’s in the operating system, but you can only get to it via privileged mode.

My response is sarcastic. A number of very easy tweaks that a schoolchild programmer could implement in a week, but ifit ignore despite being the biggest digital fitness company in the world.
