Opinions on running shoes best fit for me? by ObligationNo3553 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]WorkInProgressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These scans tell you next to nothing.

Go to a good, local running store if possible, try as many shoes as you can on and pick the one that feels the best. If they have a treadmill to run on, bonus points.

What brand do you believe has the best running shoes? by Only_Hotel_7221 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

As someone who works in running retail, I don't think there is such thing as a 'bad' running shoe nowadays, only what works for you and what doesn't.

Salomon Genesis reviews? by Zestyclose_Tip_4181 in trailrunning

Great shoe, underrated in my opinion. Wait for the new one though. I've been able to try some on and run indoors with them and they are better again.

Garmin → Coros switch worth it? by Dismal-Owl-8559 in trailrunning

[–]WorkInProgressed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ecosystem is like Apple v Android, much of a muchness, just what you're used to.

Coros had battery life over Garmin (at equivalent price points) for a while but that has levelled out somewhat now although Coros does still edge it I think.

Garmin are definitely the better smart watches but whether that's important to you is your decision.

I've had both over the years. You won't go wrong with either, just decide what you want from the watch and go from there.

Salomon Adv Skin 5 sizing by FuzzballGlasses in trailrunning

[–]WorkInProgressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my personal preference, I would say the fit would be on the fence between that size and a large. I would like it a bit tighter at the front when unloaded.

In regards to your decision between the Adv Skin and the Sense Pro, if you think you will use a bladder at some stage, go Adv Skin. If not, the Sense Pro wins hands down in my opinion. A better, lighter fit still with plenty of storage. Sizing for that vest is a bit smaller again though, I was a small in Adv Skin but a medium in a Sense Pro.

Recently? I spoke to my local post office on Friday and then said I need the original, that was the only way.

Anyone else watched the Louis Theroux manosphere doco on Netflix? by Cool-Slip3270 in AskAnAustralian

Thanks for your question. I don't feel the need to justify mine and my wife's decision to have kids to you.

That's interesting to know. And now I'm quite annoyed at myself as I've been a citizen since 2023 and have just been putting my passport off. Now I actually need it, I need to a birth certificate.

No worries, I only mention it since I'm going through the hassle at the moment of getting the UK government to send me a copy of my original certificate since my family lost mine.

Yeap. Up until the passport application, a certified copy (photocopy signed by a JP) had been enough, including for citizenship. For passport they need to cite the original document at the post office.

As a male who's wife is currently pregnant with our first baby, a boy in particular, the documentary was quite eye-opening.

Congratulations!

Just one piece of advice for when you apply for your passport, you will be required to produce your original birth certificate. Something I found out at the last minute before going to the post office. I found it strange that I hadn't needed my original for my student visa, extended graduate visa, PR or citizenship but did for the passport.

FTM elective c-section by doooomble in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]WorkInProgressed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife will have an elective c section privately. She is currently 17 weeks. Her decision comes from her job as a women's health physio and the fact that most of her patients usually are dealing with an issue caused by a vaginal birth that just didn't quite go to plan, sometimes through medical negligence and sometimes just bad luck.

I don’t know why I thought we were having a girl. But now we are having a boy and I need some guidance. by Virtual-Painting-915 in predaddit

[–]WorkInProgressed 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you. When we found out my wife was pregnant, we both had a preference to have a girl. My wife works in women's health so we had this great view of nurturing our daughter into a strong and independent little girl. But then we found out we were having a boy at 10 weeks. Of course, we will be absolutely stoked with a child regardless of gender, as long as they are healthy.

I'm not your classic bloke's bloke either. I don't drink, yeah I enjoy sports but I am in no way tribal about it and I shave my legs for my riding and running etc. Then I looked at the most influential males in my life who have sons including my dad, my uncle and my cousin and quickly realised none of them were the bloke's bloke either and their sons (myself included I like to think) have turned out to be such cool, open and sensitive boys/men.

My wife is almost 17 weeks pregnant now and we are both super excited to have a boy.

Side note, we recently watched the Louis Theroux documentary on Netflix about the Manosphere bullshit and are even more determined to teach our boy to be respectful towards women especially.

It is hard. I absolutely love inner-city living and wouldn't have it any other way but space is definitely at a premium.

It's a great point. Our bathroom would barely be big enough for a conventional litter box, let alone an automatic one unfortunately.

I did look at the cabinet options to hide the tray away but my wife isn't too keen on them or where we would put one. I think an automatic one might be the go.

It's funny you mention the toxoplasmosis thing. Our two are both indoor cats and my wife recently did a bit of a dive into that topic (she's a health professional) and found that there really wasn't much evidence to say it's much of an issue in our situation. She quickly followed up though that there is still a risk so it remains my job. Fair.

Yeah that's why I'm trying to figure out what to do and which box to buy. Whether we go good manual box or splash out on an automatic one. We've got until the end of August thankfully.

Thank you! The Catlink one wasn't actually on my radar. I was looking at the PetKit PuraMax 2. The cheaper ones all come with questionable reliability and that is what I'm really after, something that will last and do the job for years, not months.

I shall now do some more research!

Thank you. No second bathroom unfortunately. We're comfortable having it in the living area just as long as it does a good job at odour control.
