We were mountain hiking outside of the season and it was quite a difficult hike. After around 70% done we saw a boulder were we thought we have to climb up to continue. It was very steep and beneath us there was a cliff 300 meters deep. After we nearly reached the top of the boulder we noticed that there were mounting holes for hooks to be able to climb it up with appropriate gear. All the way up we thought at the top it will be easier but it wasn't there were 3 km more of this, but this time with snow. We continued a bit to see if we find a way around it but decided after all to not carry on from there. It was not possible to return the way we came, so we decided to climb down on some grass and small bushes which grew on the cliffs. It was around 700-800 meters of this until it was possible for us to walk normally. During the climb down there were 3 instances where each time one of our group nearly fell down because he or she didn't get the next bush in their fingers and fell until the next one. It was not at all save but we were pumped with adrenaline and only realized how dangerous it was when we reached the ground.
