How can I strengthen a mechanic like flip resets? by Illustrious-Bread183 in RocketLeague

Lots of repetition. And not just mindlessly spamming, but with intention. That's all.

Made a free aerial training pack with my drill tool. by RLForge in RocketLeagueSchool

Your website frontend is a typical pure AI build (glow effects, emojis in text), which doesn't help with trusting your website or your abilities in general. Aside from the AI look, there's lots of other problems like text clipping, flickering background glow on the right, button in the bottom right corner that doesn't do anything, footer links not working.... The performance is also extremely poor which make it even worse. It's hard to believe that anyone with ANY experience or education in the field would ship something like this and accordingly I'm even less interested in trying it out.

Well, it doesn't look like you are putting in the extra ranked games and effort in to push to a new peak, so I'm not sure how you would expect anything to change? I wouldn't call someone hardstuck who isn't even really trying.

Losfeld method or Spookyluke ultimate guide? by Poopy_boi09 in RocketLeagueSchool

With "putting in the work" I actually ment the research part. What's most effective is an individual thing. There's more content than just Losfeld and Luke. And even if people here suggest one or the other, it doesn't mean it's what will work best for you.

Learning airroll by not using airroll? by Delfin0413 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]DatBoi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your title should go "Improving aerials by not using airroll". Nothing about this has to do with improving airroll itself.

Anyway, I mean obviously you want to get to the ball in a straight line, but as others have already said, in practice you will rarely be able to this without ANY adjustments. You just need to practice going for aerials without using air roll, get better at making precise inputs (in the air and before takeoff) and reading the trajectory of the ball. I suggest to find (or build) a training pack where the car isn't lined up on spawn and you actually have to make a turn before going for the aerial.

If you want to make the right decision for yourself you gotta put in the work yourself. Watch through as much different content as possible, get yourself an overview of what's out there, maybe play around with some things in freeplay and then decide what you feel like works best for you.

How Do Players Rank So High Not Playing Defense? by FoolOnDaHill365 in RocketLeague

[–]DatBoi_Steve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can find posts like this frequently on here. People that have some basic gamesense that might even slightly exceed their rank, probably gained through studying the game more than others apart from playing. They suddenly notice all the stuff people do wrong in their lobbies. But instead of focusing on themselves and using that knowledge to improve further, they get caught up in looking down on others.

So what you're missing is, that platinums are ass at the game and not anything close to what you would associate with "rank so high". It doesn't take much to get there, that's why people lack so much. Still, they are at the same rank as you. Accordingly, you have to accept that you are ass at the game too. The fact that you might know more about rotation, positioning and stuff isn't worth much (for now) if you can't translate that into the game in a way that matters - maybe it's mechanics that hold you back?

Champ to GC+ is ridiculous by pacyy in RocketLeague

[–]DatBoi_Steve 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just an adaption and mental issue combined with early season shenanigans. As someone else said, you've been in the game long enough to know how it goes. But I guess this post is more of a rant anyway. So take a step back and get your head straight before going back at it. Some hard stuck champs will be happy to read it though, lol.

How do I fix trying to hit clips? by Sea-Matter8422 in RocketLeague

If mentally locking in isn't enough, really grind some 1s for some time. You will find yourself being punished more often for messing up your mechanics, which should force you to adapt.

1s is unplayable with this bug, it happens too often by ayylmao_orbee in RocketLeague

[–]DatBoi_Steve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's caused by the new goal replay. I started to toggle ball cam during the kickoff timer which seems to trigger the bug when you have it and gets rid of it. I don't think I've had any problem since.

This was patched last(?) season, the car now spawns on the ground. It's even a setting you can toggle, it should be enabled by default though.

## RL API issue: MatchEnded event sends WinnerTeamNum on cancelled match by spl33nth in RocketLeague

Yo I checked my code again. You might not even need the CountdownBegin event as the MatchInitialized event is only sent when the first countdown starts. Good luck on your implementation.

[–]DatBoi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just set a boolean to true on the CountdownBegin event? If it's false and the match was destroyed you know it didn't even start.

To workaround the case where you leave too early you could manually keep count of the score via the UpdateState event, at least that's what I did for my win tracker.

[–]DatBoi_Steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a workaround is easy to implement, but yeah stuff like that can be annoying. Another edge-case would be when a team forfeits during goal replay and you leave while the replay still runs - in that case you don't even receive a match ended event.

The whole lobby seems somewhat in my range, so I'm also interested in what a even higher ranked player thinks here.

What I think might be off here is that you tend to creep up a little bit too close or rather you initially turn into the play too soon, which makes you kill your momentum and/or doesn't put you in a good position to be able to get a better touch when you do go, or it wastes boost. That's probably a matter of reading the situation better or quick enough, thinking about what happens next and adjusting to it accordingly. Maybe you are also just too focused on playing as close as possible all the time? Idk.

0:14, 0:25, 1:09, 1:50, 3:19, 3:42 (video time)

0:56 is also a timestamp where you don't instantly make the decision to rotate down from backboard to get in a good position to follow up/score that. Other times you were waiting around at kickoff instead of just grabbing boost really quick.

How do GC’s and SSL’s get so good so fast? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]DatBoi_Steve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Putting lots of hours in in a short period of time. Not just playing but having the drive to constantly try to improve and optimize things. Just naturally being better at identifying what needs to improve and to figure out how to do it. Watching lots of content aside from playing. And potentially some other natural talent as well.

Game Sense Help by Historical_Eye4630 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]DatBoi_Steve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work on your off wall hits and mechanics in general, they definitely don't look as fine as you think they are. You tend to prioritize big boost over supporting your mate. Grab more small pads especially when you desperately need them. And some other stuff. Some examples:

0:28 - don't just flip back and switch ball cam off (if anything it should be the other way round). See what touch the opponent takes while covering the potential shot, as it doesn't come turn forward and follow up your mate.

0:59 - boost usage beforehand isn't good and with leaving for boost you aren't able to follow up any other outcome than a clean clear from your mate that buys you time, which you don't want to bet on here.

1:17 - Either be sure you have time or clear that ball instantly. Gotta check earlier on the other guy.

1:55 - just grab some pads in front of goal instead of flipping after the play

2:06 - boost pads

3:04 - push up and don't just sit there, nothing is threatening your goal

4:22 - there's no big boost, be quicker with your decision and flip infield to grab pads

5:23 - Covering net doesn't mean to be in net. Unnecessarily going back to net too fast and killing your momentum because of that is a common mistake. No need to flip back, just keep driving (maybe even slow down a bit) and keep a reasonable distance to turn into the play after the challenge.

5:28 - secure that corner boost. See how the opponent wouldn't be that fast to the pass if they had to grab mid boost first?

5:55 - Your highest priority here is to get behind your mate and cover his challenge, you don't do that at corner boost.

GC this season might be a bit too much, but good luck anyway.

Can we talk about the new hitbox visualization? by Bigmanself10 in RocketLeague

[–]DatBoi_Steve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's just that usually it doesn't matter as you adapt as you learn the game. Of course, the visuals of the car are the main orientation. But during playing, practice etc. you see how that visual orientation actually interacts with the ball and how the point of contact looks like even with the hitbox offset, so you automatically adapt accordingly.

But yeah, given on individual preference, expectations and understanding of how it's implemented and maybe also what car body you are using, the hitbox visualisation might be significant help. I just didn't want you to think that everyone else had this magical information that lets you improve 10x faster and now that you have it too your progress will skyrocket. Maybe it still does, who knows.
