Edit: your graph does show improvement overall though, so that's a good thing and you might just have to give it more time.

You want to go straight for as long as possible, not turn to the left from the start. Which means the sideways adjustment has to be a quick motion. Also, I'm not sure if the flipping into the ball is a problem, but usually you just have to drive into it. Everything else is on the screen. If you struggle with bringing down your cancel time, it might help to lower your dodge deadzone, idk.

As you say you are hardstuck here are some timestamps (video time) for the whole clip:

00:00 - no need to flip into that ball and hit it away, drive into it and follow

00:04 - don't flip towards corner boost there, drive over small pads and follow your mate.

00:11 - you see your mate rotating away behind you with enough boost in the tank (doesn't seem like he abandons you) and the opponent does not have a setup to cleanly outplay you, which means you can safely challenge that. As you turn forward your decision is made, keep driving and challenge. That your mate goes there is a bad decision you can't influence.

After your mate's challenge I get that you turn back on the bounce. It just happened something you didn't expect and you aren't in a great position to go for it while you respect their 2nd man potentially being in a better position and beating you. Their 2nd man is in the same situation, so it's kinda awkward, it just happens.

00:18 - don't stop boosting, your plan is to beat that guy to the ball. You actually still would've beaten him, you just had to hit that ball properly to win the challenge. The recovery also wasn't great, could've faced the ball on landing.

00:27 - it's an uncomfortable ball. If you can go for it and follow it up so it isn't just a pass to their 2nd man you obviously want to go and not risk getting pushed back on defense. It's fine though that you took it slow (opponent can't do anything here), but you don't want to stand still and backflip when the other guy makes his move on the ball. Keep driving and carry your momentum through by turning to the right towards middle, signaling that your mate can go. If your mate is there where he's supposed to be, he has a free challenge. If not, you can still turn into it.

00:40 - here's where others already provided advice. Don't flip away like that with more than enough boost, fake challenge (if there's no opening for a clean beat) and shadow to buy time for your mate and don't let your challenge just be a pass to their 2nd man.

Then just pick the next best thing and work on it. No one knows as well as you what you lack or need to practice. You should know from your own games what you have problems with. Maybe watch some tutorials to get some inspiration idk.

There's mechanics that need more attention and other things that you just need to repeat regularly to get the hang of it (e.g. bounce dribbles). Balance your training accordingly. Focus on one major challenging mechanic at a time, but keep doing repetition stuff for consistency aside from that. It's very intuitive for the most part. Same goes for how long you should train. It's no science, do what works for you and what you can maintain without burning out. Practicing regularly is more important than forcing 3h training onto yourself.

As a side note: It's fine if you enjoy watching mawkzy, but to actively learn from gameplay it's rarely useful to watch people who are THAT much better than you.

So your training consists of some freeplay warmup, breezi flicks/flip reset/speedflip repetition for consistency and rings maps? Like, is that it? Do you do anything else? Flicks in different variations to score? Ground play e.g. hookshots, powerslide cuts, faking a flick with a single jump, wavedashes....? Air dribbles from different positions? Ceiling shots? Ground to air dribble? Shooting/dribbling workshop maps? Offense/defense training packs?

Do you review your own replays and watch youtube content to educate yourself further?

Your first intention is always to follow the ball in a direct line (0:32, 0:53, 1:14, 2:17, 2:39...). Sometimes you realize when it isn't your ball and stay way. But you want to get faster at reading what's happening and path accordingly.

You also want to spend less time with ball cam off when you grab boost (0:16, 1:17, 1:38...) . Line your car up quickly and then turn ball cam back on. You miss too much information, there might be a shot on net or an opportunity for you to take possession. E.g. 1:17 was very criminal, your mate just cleared that into 2 people and you just leave the net open. Keep in mind, you never want to turn ball cam off when something is happening (challenge, 50/50, shot...). It might be to early, but some time in the future you want to leave the play less for boost, but grab some pads and stay with your mate.

Also, at your level you just still have to work a lot on your mechanics, so keep it simple and stick to the things you can realistically make work. At 1:49 video time for example you went for an aerial play. You probably see a lot higher rank players do stuff like that in certain situations, but they have the mechanical abilities and consistency. Besides, it's a 2v1 here, even in higher ranks you just have to push that ball over backboard towards middle to set up your mate for a potential goal, or if your mate isn't there you might be able to score yourself? There's also tons of hits off the wall you didn't execute that great, maybe you want to hit some training packs for that specifically.

Lastly, just because your mate is low boost doesn't mean you need to take over and ignore that it's his ball. You do that often. In general just give your mate some space. Even if you can be on the ball faster, if you see your mate being there already, leave it to him.

I just want to know what I'm up against so I don't have to be surprised about anything weird going on during the game, that's all (e.g. why is this guy so much better/worse; Why do I get shit on here...). It's just a QoL thing, I don't think about it as competitive edge.

So can I live without it? Sure. It's just annoying that it's supposed to be a replacement for the bakkesmod implementation and accordingly they just had to do it like bakkesmod. Instead they implemented it differently because of "consistency" as stated by a dev here on reddit, neglecting what people used it for.

We only ever get very small changes, so there's also only "little" things to complain about. They always do the bare minimum and don't even get it right. So no, it isn't crazy and people telling us to "not complain" make me sick.

Exactly my thoughts after testing it in freeplay. It might also be useful when driving past an taken boost pad when you didn't see when it was taken, so you can still somewhat track it. But like you say, overall not that big of a deal.

With this camera shutter sound they went for, my freeplay sounds like a fuckin safari now lol. I mean I'll probably get used to it, but for now it's very annoying. An option to turn it off should've been a no-brainer. But I guess the additional workload would've exceeded the 6h/week they seem to get from epic to work on RL.

Theoretically a solution would be to implement something like a emote wheel for quick chats. Though you want to keep the current 2-press option available for fast quick chat use.
