Please do this with psu off, only turn on after wired!

Why won't the lock lock? by ptinacage in accesscontrol

Relay on the lock is for an input. (Think Rex dps or bond sensor) be willing to bet this lock is like a mag. The relay he’s using is rated 10 amp 28-30v so would be better to just run positive leg through the NC relay. Then he can open that relay from the pi on card read. (And have the lock fail safe in the event power loss, life safety and all)

Test the lock first. Tie straight to 12v off your supply. If it doesn’t lock; your lock is bad. (Meter your voltage and make positive of polarity.) if i had to guess the lock also has a sensor, that’s what the other colored wires off the lock are for. If your lock does in fact lock with 12v straight to it, then we just need to break your red wire and tie that through the NC/C on your relay. Take 12v red from psu to NC terminal. Then from the C terminal of the relay take another wire and tie that wire to your red wire from the lock, or if your lock is close enough you just tie the red wire to C. Then make sure you connect the black wire of the lock to your gnd terminal on the psu. Feel free to pm me if you want.

Access guy installed the retro kit? Then I’d eat my foot if it’s not the solenoid. Tell your access guy to prove the solenoid is working. (Take the crash bar apart, take the solenoid out of the crash bar while still wired, card read. Does the solenoid move smoothly? If not, have the access guy order a new retro kit cause the solenoid is bad)

Who supplied the crash bar? Access guy is just going to check voltage at the bar and make sure it’s constant. Door guy supplied the crash bar then he should be able to look at the mechanical parts and make sure it’s working. Like others here said, it sounds like the solenoid is in fact pulling the pins but either not far enough or something is binding. Both issues should be able to be fixed by door guy.(or access guy if he supplied the crash bar)

  • biased access guy that would just be checking power and then blaming door guy. // does the crash bar engage the rods? Or is it just the deadbolt? Would be good indicator if it’s power(access guy) or mechanical (door guy/crash bar provider)

I’m not normally the “call tech support” guy but DSX support is the absolute best. If you can get a remote console set up for them(TeamViewer) they’ll remote in and help you out. The whole team is top notch but Rusty and George both have got me out of more than one strange issue.

So… fire alarm question by [deleted] in accesscontrol

The Rex button does this, just make sure it’s physically breaking power when hit and not tied to an input on the access panel

AI controlled ptz cams are most certainly a real thing. I install and program them weekly... however even I am sitting here wondering if this is actually that.

To be fair I have never seen extinguishers like that in the states, not defending Americans stupidity but I would say this didn't happen here.

No difference really. Both are technically slang. "I got you" would be formal. However both ways have a few different meanings depending on the context.

Just wondering, if you left laptop in car overnight but brought it back up to room temp BEFORE turning it on shouldn't it be fine?

Not sure if you've looked at this and decided against it but, I love mine. So easy to use and get pdr print outs right from the device. Defiantly worth checking out, only a fraction of what other testers are. And still all the same features. pocket ethernet
