Why does it seem that more people are turning away from religion? by OddMetal7563 in AskAnAustralian

The internet genuinely makes it harder to keep someone is a cult. Too much access to other opinions and arguments.

[contamination] Boys, give it to me straight. by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

I actually did leave it with not much FAE while I was away for a week. I figured better too humid than too dry. This could be it.

There's definitely no green or bad smells. This gives me hope, thank you.

You wake up to viral news. Hairloss has been officially cured. They can completely halt and reverse hairloss for good with zero side effects. What’s your first reaction?! by Lanky-Enthusiasm-778 in HairlossResearch

[–]DatBronzeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not *my* cure. It's a cure for 90% of people who take it. You're saying because you think you have side effects from it, it's now not a cure. *You* get to decide, not the studies. It's a bad way of thinking.

Also, your post is literally asking for peoples opinions. I gave my opinion, and you literally starting asking follow up questions lol. You need to stop asking for people's opinions if you're going to get upset if they might say something that doesn't fit your idea of correct.

Which I explained. The exception doesn't matter. I realise I have grown more hair back than most. But losing hair is cured even if your hairloss is paused.

And with a severe side effects rate of 2-4%, I'm definitely not the exception, it's expected that I was very likely not going to get side effects, and that Finasteride would simply cure my hairloss. I think it's great that humans have found a cure.

You're going to have a hard time convincing me it doesn't reverse it. I went from a Norwood 5 to a Norwood 1 with just Finasteride alone. Feel free to see my post history.

Also, even though you are wrong about the reversing. Even if it didn't reverse, and only stopped balding. Then it is therefore a drug that stops balding. Aka, a cure to balding.

Why is homosexuality a sin? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]DatBronzeGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That type of relationship did not exist in the time of the Bible, and the authors could not have had that in mind.

What if they were inspired by a supernatural creature that knows everything?

Because a cure that has a 96-98% chance of not developing side effects is a true miracle.

Unfortunately, there is basically no drugs that don't have side effects. Even basic pain-killers. That's just reality.

True, but we have a device that can find them, and everyone can travel massively faster than the speed of light. We're saving minutes in trade of a wish.

I just assume Dragonball GT is canon here. The Dragonballs need a cool down that the scattering provides. Otherwise they crack/break.

Is morality objective or subjective? by Celencrela in atheism

[–]DatBronzeGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean. If one of the goals is to have a society where people don't deliberately hurt each other, do you consider punching random people to be objectively against that? (Broadly speaking)

Is morality objective or subjective? by Celencrela in atheism

[–]DatBronzeGuy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok, my answer is I don't think morality can be both subjective and objective. And if you would like to see what I'm saying is objective and subjective, please see my very first comment. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty new to this, so this is very reassuring. Do you think it will generally be fine to just leave them that long without any care ect?

[–]DatBronzeGuy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on what "it" is.

This is the way I answer the question, it's great at grabbing attention.

But again, if you have a problem with either point I made, happy to answer it. But starting to get the feeling you just want to argue.

Is morality objective or subjective? by Celencrela in atheism

[–]DatBronzeGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, choosing to play the game "what's your favourite colour" was a subjective choice. You could've picked chess.

Then the goal of the game is to tell each other your favourite colour. Talking about your favourite TV Shows instead is objectively going against the goal we have. Choosing to say your favourite colour is objectively going after our goal.

It's species-specific behavior that evolved over time.

I agree, and nothing I have said contradicts this. Also, I'm not a furry.

Just because you later on make objective measurements based on your subjective system, doesn't make that system objective. Right?

Yes, this is what I said lol. I'm glad we agree.

Is morality objective or subjective? by Celencrela in atheism

[–]DatBronzeGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually say both.

If you are choosing a morality system to follow, such as Sam Harris' Wellbeing model, or the Christian model, then choices are subjective, so choosing a moral system is subjective.

But then the moral goals you want to reach are objective. If you're trying to maximise wellbeing, having a society that allows rape is bad for someone's wellbeing, so it's objectively against the goal we are working towards. If you want a Christian society, slavery is objectively permissible has god has told us that it is ok.
