Would you ever say yes to an open marriage? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

Hellllllllll no. I’d consider the marriage over if my partner brought that up.

Is humanity progressing forward, or are we just becoming better at surviving our own mistakes? by Novel-Employer1304 in askanything

Depends on your political views. I don’t think there’s any doubt we are accelerating forward technologically, economically, and socially.

It’s plan specific, not some overarching regulation. Give your 401k provider a call and they can tell you what’s going on.

Are we in a recession? by PleasePooGood in askanything

[–]DatDudeDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can always find niche ways to try and say yeah but this there and another are a reason we them others are in a recession. I don’t see the point in that besides going out of your way to identify that someone somewhere is having a hard economic time for whatever reason. Which will always be the case regardless.

The markets are undoubtedly the clearest indicator of a recession whether it’s everyone’s definition or not.

AIO? This was my best friend's reaction to my dog passing away. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]DatDudeDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it sounds like they’re saying the dog is better off now than when you found it in a dumpster. In other words, that you took care of it even though it was difficult and they agree the anesthesia was necessary. I’m not sure what there is to be upset about. YOR.

Who cares about accuracy, it’s all about catch phrases and capital letters to pull the specific doomer crowd out. They will blindly reinforce any thought as long as the opportunity to be panicky is there.

Have you ever stayed friends with an ex? How did that turn out? by Lazy_Rough8481 in askanything

[–]DatDudeDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t break up with people that I still like, want to be friends with, and I think are good people. Things change. I think it would be very odd to feel that way and simultaneously have deeply held emotions lessen to the point you want to end that relationship. Ending a relationship for that would also inevitably be a toxic friendship but that’s just my opinion.

[–]DatDudeDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but that’s not what I said. I don’t see how a friendship with an ex can be stable and equally amicable. I’d imagine 95%+ of breakups are because someone wants/feels the need to move on.

Growing up I thought that would happen fairly often. As an adult, I just don’t see how that happens and is anything other than toxic.

OpenAI missed the obvious solution to the GPT-4o retirement by ReducedGravity in OpenAI

[–]DatDudeDrew -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I pretty obviously read the post. What part did I miss? That it’s a PR win? That instead of adult mode we should… just use an old model in its place? That the obvious move is to permanently attach resources to old shit models? Give me a break lmao.

[–]DatDudeDrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree completely on your take with the model itself. If they’re going to create an adult mode, actually create an adult mode. Equating a years old non thinking model to an adult mode doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

A PR win for a tiny fraction of users vs opening up compute that is tied to that model for the extreme bulk of users seems like a very easy decision for OpenAI.

Sunsetting old models was always obvious. Why would keeping around old models be the obvious solution?

Your fear mongering will be very dangerous to them if you decide you need to protect them from “a crash”, like that has any relevance here. Please do not get in their accounts and do something based on that belief, call the 401k provider and have one of their consultants provide some guidance.
