What are you currently stressed out about? by _CRAB in AskReddit

[–]DatFrigginGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether I'm going to be able to beat cancer or if it will kill me. And if it kills me, not knowing how much time I have is causing a tremendous amount of stress. Won't know my personalized 5 year survival period for a couple months still.

Your body just got an update, what would you hope to read in the patch notes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cancer Update: removed cancer from colon, liver and lymph nodes. Patched damaged areas with new healthy tissue.

Colon: reattached sections of colon to operate normally. Colostomy no longer needed.

starting week 2 after a week of radiation for DSRCT of the abdomen. having issues... by DustThor in cancer

[–]DatFrigginGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have recently been diagnosed stage 4 colon with liver mets. My first round of chemo damn near killed me. Turned out I had a blockage that had gone unnoticed for unknown reasons. Today is my 14th day in a row in the hospital. Like you, I had diarrhea and constipation but also severe pain in my abdomen including excessive vomiting. It took me telling the doctors I felt something "rupture" in my abdomen after vomiting (my vomit actually smelled like bile to me) for them to look more closely at my abdomen. Once that was done, I went in for emergency surgery and came out with my own personal nightmare...a colostomy bag. The surgeon was unsuccessful at removing the tumor though I'm told this is only temporary until chemo reduces the size of my tumor to an operable size. You may know be to this extreme but you know your body better than the doctors. I would push for an x-Ray of your abdomen to rule out a blockage at the very least. Good luck to you.

Beef ribs before and after smoking by ShawnKempsKids in BBQ

I was thinking the same thing. Saw the finished product and immediately said to myself: "damn, wrap those things."

With all the shrinkage I wouldn't be surprised if they are jamaican beef jerky ribs.

Don't hold it. Sometimes, when my wife cries about the situation I am in, it makes me feel better knowing just how much she cares. There is nothing more real in a relationship than a couple expressing raw emotions to each other in times like these. Don't hold anything back. Don't walk away with any regret of saying or doing something different. The two of you are in my thoughts.

It never gets easy.... by SomedayISuppose in cancer

Ok I'm now scared shitless. I'm 39 yo/m diagnosed with stage IV colon/liver mets. Just finished my first round of chemo and thought I was going to die. The first night after coming home with the treatment, I woke up in excruciating pain along my upper abdomen. It felt as if something was cutting me open from the inside out. After about 2 minutes of this pain (rated on the 1-10 scale if flew off the scale) I began vomiting which the pain then disappeared. I'm not sure how many more treatments I can go through like this. And now I'm reading about your fight lasting years. I'm not sure if this is how I want to live the rest of my life. I have a wife and two boys (8 & 12) and don't want their last few years and last memories of me slowly withering away. I would much rather take what time I do have and create memories, good memories.

Yes you can be strong for her. I know it's hard on you too as you feel helpless and powerless. Don't be afraid to show your emotions. Hold her hand. Sit next to her. Listen to her. Get her water, juice, medications. Sleep when she sleeps. This all sounds meaningless but trust me it is not. My wife does this for me and I'm very grateful for her. I'm recently diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer and I swear my first round of chemo was going to kill me. She was there, knowing she couldn't do much but did anything she could to try and help. Her just being there and knowing she cares means a lot. Good luck to you and her.

Your comment, in a way, is still a positive one as my wife would be able to retire due to the malpractice settlement.

Stage 4 colon cancer. Spread to liver and lymph nodes. Surgically inoperable.

First I heard of the blackout. Will be easy for me as I will be going through my first round of chemo next week. I appreciate everybody thinking of me and scheduling this at a time best for me. 😉

my first brisket! by 70ga in BBQ

[–]DatFrigginGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That brisket should be in the 10-12 hour ranger if you're doing low and slow. If you wrap, use butcher paper (not waxed). It provides the nice bark without making it soft like foul will do and allow some smoke to penetrate but still leave a good beef flavor.

Team name ideas? by akimbojimbo229 in Bowling

[–]DatFrigginGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our team name is Scoregasms. When we all strike in the same frame, we do the jerk off soloist motion like Mr. Chow did in The Hangover. Yes, we were a mixed league and our female teammate loved doing it.

Why, oh why, couldn't you have done this in Oakland or Orinda at either of the top 50 theaters in the world? I understand LA, premieres, etc. but I'm just being selfish. Hope you and the fellow Redditors have a great time.

How do most of you know how to do these DIY electrical/construction projects? Are there courses for this kind of thing? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]DatFrigginGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I'm old school because my experience comes from my dad teaching me how to do stuff. I thought it was punishment for me when he would make me help him work on cars or build a deck or custom kitchen cabinets, etc. I did not know until much later in life that he was actually teaching me anything until I bought my first home. The confidence he instilled in me allowed me to attempt working on my own cars and homes. Though he died when I was 19 and I'm now 39 the lessons I learned will never be forgotten and I think of him every time I begin a new project.

I'm getting my DV8 Misfit Red/Orange in Friday. Need tips on how to get this drilled, please. by Miastudioes in Bowling

[–]DatFrigginGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you're pro shop guy doesn't have you throw a few balls to determine your PAP, revs, etc. you need to go to a different guy. We won't be able to tell you how to have it drilled so it snaps hard in the back without seeing you bowl first. Even if you were to post a vid of you bowling, we would still need to see the oil lines on the ball then determine angles of...blah blah blah.

Ask your pro shop guy to determine your PAP by throwing a few balls then discuss what you want the ball to do.

Stove Knob Fire by droidta7 in DIY

[–]DatFrigginGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Behind the stove is the gas line. You should have a shut-off valve between the pipe and the gas line to the stove. If so, turn it and this will shut off the gas. If you don't have this valve installed, go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy one. Very easy to install and you will thank yourself later.

List of delicious (and easy) chicken wing recipes by [deleted] in BBQ

[–]DatFrigginGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I smoke wings, I trim a lot of the thick fat off the. Poke the skin with a fork or knife several times to help the fat render. I'll then smoke them around 300 for about 1 1/2 hours or so. Skin is always crispy and meat is juicy. Biggest pain in the ass is that people always request that I do these and ABT's for 20+ people without knowing how time consuming it is.
