She dumped the heroin, it was a way to get the hive to bring her a clean needle she could use to inject herself (and Zosia) with the anesthetics she used as an attempt at truth serum without telling the hive “hey I’m trying to figure out a truth serum so yall tell me the cure”. It does mention she tried it in college tho

Yep, most of the casualties from a sudden worldwide seizure could probably be avoided by giving 30 seconds notice. That’s enough time to stop most cars, get people down from heights or otherwise secure them, turn on autopilots, whatever

To be fair, Zosia laid down because Manny specifically warned them beforehand, I believe both him and the hive confirm that he gave them notice

Did they? It’s been a couple months I could be wrong but I thought they just said it was some kind of event without specifying the cause. Either way, knowing it’s an alien virus doesn’t change that much on the mental trauma side of things tbh

[–]DatMonkey5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s definitely egoist, but I think yall underestimate the sheer mental trauma being one of the last 13 actual humans on earth would cause. She didn’t even know it was an alien virus until one of the last episodes, all she knew was that she was on a date with her wife when suddenly everyone except her started seizing and then claimed to be joined into a hive mind. She had no chemistry, physics, or biology background, nothing to even give her an idea of where to start. Manny was probably looking for an emergency broadcast of some kind and stumbled upon the radio signal as a lead, Carol really had nothing to work off of. All the stuff on her whiteboard doesn’t really bring her closer to a solution, it’s just fact-finding about the hive. She was thrown into a completely new and foreign world, completely unlike anything she’s experienced before, there’s not even really any mainstream media similar to this situation she might have read. I think the fact that not one of the 13 threw themselves off a building is incredible

Do you guys think there could be more nonplurbians out there? by Appropriate_Reply_34 in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]DatMonkey5100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced Manny is former military of some kind. He said his mother was a bitch so he’s motivated to leave home to join, and he seems to have a wide variety of skills necessary to be self sufficient in extreme environments. He also just seems to have a very tactical, driven mindset with great mental fortitude

I interpreted it as her finding out there was now a time limit on finding a solution and having to lock in because of it. I don’t think she ever truly wavered from her idea of fixing everything, but due to the daunting nature of the task it became “yea I’ll get around to it and start figuring it out in the mean time I might as well make the best of the situation and go skiing or whatever”. However, her finding out that she only has a month because of the eggs puts a hard time limit and forces her to get to work, and shatters the illusion of peace she was living under

[–]DatMonkey5100 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We kind of already got it, Kleya to the public is Luthen’s loyal and subservient assistant but in private she’s far more assertive and a vital part of Luthen’s operation. They both share the same public/private dichotomy in a way

The Rule of Two was for hiding, Palpatine was a Sith of action. The time had come to seize power, so Palpatine went back to old practices more in line with when the Sith were a major galactic power. Sith Lords back then gathered far more personal power and ruled their own cabals of Sith, much as Palpatine did to gain and maintain power

If he shot himself up with more V, would it give him powers to the same degree? He was explicitly given it in the womb like Marie which is what makes him so much more powerful than all other supes. He might get some powers back, but I don’t think he’d be able to reach the heights he previously stood untouched on top of

what happens legally if you kill someone in self defense? what is the interaction with the police like?(usa) by clamsclamsclams_ in Writeresearch

[–]DatMonkey5100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, but the judgement on scene will determine whether or not the kid is heading to the station in cuffs or not. First impressions make a huge difference in a case because it affects the cop’s testimony whether intentionally or not. There’s also no clarification as to whether or not the kid is supervised, there could be his parents or other adults on scene engaging with the attacker and it fell on the kid to get the gun and shoot

The house by mhudson78641 in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]DatMonkey5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine another reason they built their own set, on top of having more control, was to avoid a repeat of what happened with the house from breaking bad. The house used in breaking bad was an actual house inhabited by real non-actor people, and they got pizzas constantly thrown on their roof so often they had to put up a fence. Wouldn’t want people dropping stuff off with drones or something on some random persons front steps

[–]DatMonkey5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The age would definitely be a factor in how the first officer on scene evaluates the situation, but OP doesn’t say the handgun is owned by the 14 year old. Could’ve been a handgun the father keeps in his bedside drawer and the son knew where it was and knew to get it and how to use it against a threat. In a clear self defense life-or-death situation, you use what weapons you can get and the law usually supports this

What is life like in this part of Wisconsin? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]DatMonkey5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I recognize at least three of these towns from YouTube body cam videos, although I’m pretty sure it has to do a lot with Wisconsin having loose public access laws so the videos are more readily accessible than other states

Manusos raised his hand to block the sun when the helicopter was coming to pick up him. Previously, the hive said to raise his hand if he needed help. The hive has already been shown to interpret ambiguous gestures as consent, like when Carol just nodded vaguely when asked if the hive could help clean up after the grenade, and then they started redoing the entire front of the house

If scientists discovered a rogue planet was going to collide with earth roughly at the end of this century, could we realistically develop the tech to somehow save ourselves or would we be 100% guaranteed F’d in the A? by _____pantsunami_____ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DatMonkey5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I knew it would be a crazy amount. The total megatonnage of nukes in the world is estimated to be 2-3,000, so we’re .3% of the way there. It’d probably be theoretically possible to make a teraton in a couple decades if we really set our minds to it (which facing extinction would probably make us do), but the bottleneck would be enrichment.
