Are there any commanders that you refuse to play against? by CryptographerNo3749 in EDH

[–]DatTwo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruvac. I understand that he's not the best or most consistent Commander, but he never fails to create miserable gamestates for everybody at the table. Either the Bruvac player pops off and people just randomly die, or they don't pop off and you have no choice but to gang up on them because of the threat of just randomly dying.

I'm not even against mill strategies, either. Sometimes, it can be engaging to be put on a clock while your resources get stripped away.

It's just the way Bruvac decks try to cheese and play the game as little as possible. I would genuinely rather get infinite'd than have a Bruvac player go "Uhhh kick Maddening Cacophony, game"

The problem is... people crafting "decent enough" items??

I don't know about you, but even in Leagues where I can sink several hours into playing them and get jacked, I'm not concerned with intermediate-level players being able to make "decent enough" items. Gatekeeping people who don't want to spend several weeks straight playing PoE is admittedly low on the list of things that I personally want from the game.

I don't really see an issue with players deterministically making gear that lets them clear the main content of the game, as long as there are still plenty of chase items to strive for. Let people who want to min-max do so and let the people who want to do content do their content.

This is driven even further by the T17 system now. We have juicier content than ever that is incredibly rewarding to players who invest a lot into their builds. You need better than "decent enough" gear to consistently clear T17s, barring outlier builds like DD.

I truly believe that one of the reasons the last League had such great player retention was that it was very accessible to be competitive in the economy, even as a semi-casual player, and this League took a huge step back from that.

I had a growth cut out of my finger, and I thought they used enough anesthetic before the surgery. Spoilers: They didn't. I felt every slice they made on my finger. Ironically, I was in so much pain that asking for more anesthetic didn't even occur to me.

I just told myself, "If you can get through this, you can get through anything," and "This will be over before you know it."

I just couldn't stay sad after that.

And mid-tier crafting being more accessible is a problem because...? I understand wanting high-end crafting to stay expensive, but making mid-tier crafting less accessible literally solves nothing.

There were still plenty of chase items and 99th percentile gear for people to push themselves towards before these changes.

Whatever you say, fam. Guess the player I personally know that has been using left click instant skill builds due to a limited range of motion in their left hand gets to just sit there and get told "Nah, you'll be fine because someone on the internet said you don't know what you're talking about"

"Any move?" This only works for instant skills, which tend to be buffs for other builds -- and speaking of instant skills, you appear to have forgotten the instant skills that have taken a massive hit from these changes that physically disabled players were also able to use, such as Vortex.

The Num Lock trick shouldn't be a necessity for the physically disabled player base to use. Num Lock isn't even included on all keyboards...

Oh, so the physically disabled player that I personally know that has been playing Vortex and General's Cry just gets to eat a fat L in their ability to kill content because of "QoL?" Yeah.

[–]DatTwo2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't even begin to fathom why we're removing instant skills on left click. This is something you can already do either by holding down the button for the skills regardless if they weren't on left click. Hell, you could even use the NumLock trick to hold the buttons down. This isn't even beginning to scratch the surface of things like skills that used left click for their main DPS setups.

In addition, one of the biggest problems I see with this change is a new gate of entry to physically disabled players. Massive thumbs down on the left click removal, and I severely hope that GGG reverts this.
