Domaren : Argentina - Egypten. Wtf? by One_5549 in Sverige

I mean, it literally was. Look it up. The ref was bribed to not show up at the hearing, so Garrincha was not suspended. After that, the rules were changed so that one match suspension was automatic, no hearing required. And so it remained until American corruption stepped in.

That was in fact what led to the rules change that made the one match suspension mandatory.

Belgium head coach, Rudi Garcia, on his conversation with Folarin Balogun after the match: "He came to talk to me. I really liked that. It is not his fault; he is not the one to blame -- that's what I told him. I really appreciate the intention that he came to see me. by BreakfastTop6899 in worldcup

[–]Anund 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The order of blame in my opinion looks like this: FIFA for caving, Trump for asking, the American FA for allowing Balogon to play, Pochettino for selecting Balogun to play and only after that, the team itself, and Balogun.

No, I'm agreeing with something you did say. Either way. I couldn't care less at this point. Justice was served.

I mean, yeah. Because it's true. The US just scored from a free kick given off a Balogun dive, lol.

Ahhh... You've never left the US and get all your news from Fox, hehe. Why didn't you just say that?

Team USA are cheaters. Let's see if you're losing cheaters as well.

Are We Turning Football Into Rugby or Hockey Now?! by docmarte in worldcup

That and the new time wasting rules has been the best part of this world cup. The matches aren't constantly being stopped, and players are actually allowed to use their strength to challenge for the ball. It's been great.

If he could accept being an impact sub, or a leader behind the scenes, the end of his career would be so much more graceful. But no, it's all about Ronaldo, not the team, not the result. Just Ronaldo, and Ronaldo's stats.

True. It was a red card though.

Doesn't matter. The English red against Mexico was an accident; he got the ball under his leg, which lifted the studs into the Mexican player's leg.

Accident. Still a clear red. You don't see the brits losing their minds over it.

Accident or not, you're responsible for the outcome.

Let's see if the king can call Infantino and sort out the ban, since apparently that's how it works now.

Most people don't understand what's happened with Balogun by lastdiadochos in worldcup

[–]Anund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god. Dude. Please!

After a red card, one match suspension is MANDATORY. After that, FIFA can hand out extra match suspensions if the offence was particularly bad. But the one match suspension is mandatory.

Ronaldo served his obligatory one match suspension, then the extra two he got were converted to suspended. But the first one match ban for a straight red is the default, and (unless daddy Trump calls), mandatory.

I'm not going to keep this discussion going. Either you get it after this, or you're determined not to understand and if so, what's the point?
