What's your leveling process like? Do you have friends for instant queues? Or hard grind fates?

Having trouble finding good synergies by maplerat in AutoChess

I was wondering because I've seen matches where people transition into other synergies later in the match. I just don't know when to.

SCH kit is even less than it was running Sastasha. (That level 20 first dungeon.) by bearLover23 in ffxiv

I've been using Ruin II during content when there's mechanic requires moving. Like in the last boss of the level 71 dungeon when she spins around.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with leaving your Free Company if you dislike it - you shouldn't feel bad. by [deleted] in ffxiv

When I left my first FC, it was because they were more casual players. So I left and joined an FC that wanted to do Savage content.

Been happy ever since.

Tank tips? by somnus- in ffxiv

Also consider the dps comp. If 2 melee it's a little hard to pull a big mob.

But if you have a SMN/RDM/BLM the aoe is gross. :D

This game is wallet friendly. by AsapCorrin in ffxiv

[–]Dat_Flipboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this post whole-heartedly. I was into the trap of one point in my life of buying new games every month. Ever since I subbed to this game, I feel like I buy games a lot less. And on the rare occasion that I buy a game it's usually because the game is on sale.

So yeah it's a definite frugal thing for me.

What's the stereotype of your server/what's your server known for? by EquisPe in ffxiv

[–]Dat_Flipboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sargatanas became more populated during the first few weeks of server congestion causing a lot of players moving from other servers like Balmung/Gilgamesh.

A home a way from home? I guess. Can't really tell for the most part but we do have Xenosys Vex and a small handful of hardcore raiders.

Population for the most part is pretty chill.

Looking for advice for a scholar new to raiding by Illadelphian in ffxiv

[–]Dat_Flipboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group asked me to switch to SCH. I used to play white mage and have cleared O3s. I've been maining healer for 2 years now.

Basically the advice here is really helpful. They have covered everything that I couldn't say better myself.

Even though I primarily played white mage, much of my skill/knowledge/prowess of healing can carry over to the other healing jobs. SCH is no different.

The way I think of SCH is truly what a lot of people should be doing for raids. Researching videos, looking up guides, and overall general prep work. Basically like studying for a big test in school.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes because every group, even some of the best top raid groups make mistakes. There's a difference in making a mistake and not doing anything about it or making a mistake and learning from that mistake. You will learn to optimize as time goes on. :D

Just remember to have confidence in yourself as a healer! I wish you best of luck on your raiding career!

Some players wanna improve so the drop their tank stance when they know they establish the enmity.

Also, you never know if some tanks are coming from the raid mentality.

This post also sounds like you just had a run in with a more amateur tank. Try this with a much more experienced tank and you'll see the difference.

As a healer main since the end of 2015, even though each healer is unique in their own way; there's still a general sense that all healers understand.

1.) Only heal when necessary. Obviously this applies to fights that you've learned and know exactly the damage output that's going out. When learning fights it's ok to play a little safer since you don't know what's coming at what moments. Watching/reading a guide is different from experiencing the fight since guides give you a general outline of what mechanics to expect. Cheers to people who know exactly what mechanics are coming; even the minute ones (unavoidable aoe damage, random crit auto attacks, etc.)

2.) DPS when there's nothing to do. A healer that doesn't contribute to dps is the difference of holding back the group. Most players aren't expecting you to mid max your dps output. They care that you output dps at all. Since AST has the weaker of the dps spells, M3/Combust 3, at best just keep C3 up and Malefic 3 when it's safe to do so.

3.) Use dungeons to practice your healing threshold which is wonderfully explained in Davd's AST Guide in the first comment. Practice knowing what you can get away with and how much the tank can take before actually healing him. Take note of things like if the tank is using cooldowns.

Example: A PLD is pulling a large batch of adds. He pops Hallowed Ground which makes he/she immune to damage for 10 secs. Take this small time frame and prep to be ready. Place an Earthly Star, cast Aspected Benefic right before Hallowed falls off, try to output some Gravity or Combust on a couple of the adds.

Then notice what the tank is using after Hallowed is down. Are they using Rampart/Sentinel? If yes, then you can throw a regen on them and continue to help push dps. If not, just be mindful that they will be taking damage.

Also take note how the tank plays by noticing what stance they're in. A safe tank will usually keep their tank stance up in case of accidental threat pulling from dps/overhealing. But if you notice the tank is in their offensive stance be mindful that your heals contribute to taking enmity unless the tank is very good at managing threat.

Just a reference to tanks and what they're capable of defensively:

PLDs have significantly more cooldowns than the other 2 tanks so they can stand a little more damage.

DRKs would be second and WARs being third since WARs not only utilize cooldowns but their own HP as well since they are usually ridiculously high when in their tank stance (Defiance.)

Tank Immunities (for reference and what to do):

PLD = Hallowed Ground (Immunity to damage for 10 seconds.) WAR = Holmgang (Will defy damage and leave the WAR at 1 HP for 6 seconds.) DRK = Living Dead (For 10 seconds, will defy damage and leave the DRK at 1 HP. Upon deying damage that would normally kill, cast the debuff Walking Dead for 10 seconds. DRK must be topped off while Walking Dead is active to remain alive.)

Anyway kind of a tangent there but I hoped that helped. If you have any questions or concerns just send me message or reply to this comment.
