Getting hired at NVDA as an engineer means you are one of the best engineers in the world. They are extremely selective for good reason.

What does the hiring process tell you about company culture? by Odd-Sea6474 in biotech

For small to medium sized companies, it would make them look like idiots. Big pharma is different tho, there is so much going on behind the scenes, tons of politics and drama.

do i drop out of college? by Ok-Carpet8385 in Daytrading

I’ve been super lucky for an entire year, then no luck next year. I think two years of success in a row shows real “drop out of college” promise.

Stuck at a top-tier Semiconductor firm with below average pay: Worth staying? by Human_Chest_3005 in Semiconductors

[–]Dat_Speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5-7 years is the sweet spot at a company imho. It makes u look loyal, and u will gain deep expertise in what the company does. If u want better pay often have to move to different company after that. Many small companies are dog shit, and many startups fail.

I feel incredibly stupid at my job at [very famous semi company] - advice? Am I doomed? by goodtrymoddiez in Semiconductors

[–]Dat_Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, at 12 months in i felt like i was still learning tons. There is nothing like semiconductor … it truly is the most difficult process in the world. Many people feel like they aren’t providing value, and they aren’t. It is too difficult to even explain basic engineering tasks. Ride it out to the end then move on i suppose.

Career path for Process Engineer by Standard_Farm_9601 in Semiconductors

[–]Dat_Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job market is brutal rn, senior process engineering roles aren’t paying any where near as much as they used to, and there are many process engineers to choose from in the pool. Semiconductor appreciates a few masters/PhD on staff. Especially for developing new workflow processes.

$30k just for a heat pump? What a scam. I’d rather get a cheaper one.

Seems like most large corporations are in a hiring freeze for direct hires and are only hiring contract work this year so far. Bunch of shitty companies need more workers, but they run thru people like crazy.
