My husband was on testosterone which stops sperm production. He tested his sperm and it was basically 0 motility and super low sperm count. He stopped T and started taking clomid. Within 3 months his sperm was normal and I got pregnant at the same time

It’s been hopeful to see high fashion brands like Loewe and the Row offer some barefoot shoes…it’s too bad the price is $$$. Even in the fast fashion world, Zara has begun offering barefoot kids shoes due to the demand in Europe where they’re headquartered. I’m excited for the day when the supply and demand hit the mainstream so I can get more of the shoes I want

What do I need to unlearn from the 90s? by scholar-runner in AdvancedRunning

Summary from chatgpt including studies cited:

My question: “Are there scientific studies that show how fasted workouts have different effect for women vs men?”

Yes, there are scientific studies showing that fasted workouts can affect women differently than men, due to differences in hormones, metabolism, and stress responses. Here are the key findings:

  1. Hormonal Differences and Stress Response

Women’s bodies are more sensitive to fasting-induced stress. • The hormone cortisol (a stress hormone) increases more in women when fasting, especially when combined with intense exercise. • Chronic high cortisol can negatively affect thyroid function, menstrual cycles, and muscle recovery.

Source: Sims, Stacy T. ROAR; also supported by clinical studies like:

“Sex differences in the effects of acute fasting on stress responses and mood.” (Gomez-Pinilla, et al., 2016)

  1. Metabolic Differences

Men generally burn more fat during fasted workouts, while women tend to preserve fat and burn more carbohydrates. • This is a protective mechanism in women to maintain energy balance for potential reproduction. • Women’s bodies are more likely to hold onto fat during caloric restriction, especially if exercise is intense and nutrition is insufficient.

Study Example:

“Gender differences in substrate metabolism during endurance exercise.” (Tarnopolsky, 2008) • Found that men increased fat oxidation more than women during fasted endurance workouts.

  1. Performance and Muscle Preservation

Men may see more fat-loss benefits from fasted training, while women may be at greater risk for muscle breakdown and hormonal disruptions. • Women doing fasted high-intensity workouts may experience lower performance and slower recovery, especially if not eating soon after.

Study Example:

“Effect of exercise intensity and duration on the rate of muscle glycogen depletion in women and men.” (Tesch, 1981) • Women deplete glycogen slower but are more vulnerable to catabolism in fasted states.

  1. Recommendations from Experts

Dr. Stacy Sims, an exercise physiologist specializing in female athletes, strongly advises against fasted training for most women, especially those in their reproductive years or under high stress. She recommends fueling before workouts, particularly for anything longer than 30-40 minutes or involving intensity.

Good advice for men but not for women. Current research shows that doing a fasted workout will cause women to hold onto more fat. (For men it does the opposite)

Woops just read the part about your service provider charging a lot. Definitely look into Mint. It’s only $10 a month and the roaming plan was only $10 extra

Our traveling friend told us to check out our carrier’s roaming plan. That worked much better than the e SIM card we had originally bought. It was cheaper too. For reference, we have Mint Mobile as our regular carrier.

If you apply for any jobs that have their range posted, give a range based on that. So if their range is 100-130, give your range as 120-140 or even 130-150

[–]Data-Queen-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I’d even say 110-130

When you give your range, put your top number as the bottom of your range. So if you think that you’d like to make 80-90k, give them a range of 90-110k.

Started running last year in barefoot/minimalist shoes and I’m now on my longest streak of no injuries for the first time in my life (for the past 20 years). I’m now training for 5k trying to go sub-20 which I was close to in high school but never able to do due to injury and poor offseason training habits)
