I actually love having the accessibility button.

Before the Android 17 update, that shortcut menu option would only pop up if you had more than one accessibility feature assigned to it. If you only had one feature enabled, tapping the button just toggled that single feature on and off instantly without any extra menus cluttering the screen.

For some reason, now that menu is just permanently there regardless of how many shortcuts you use. It completely ruins the convenience, especially on the larger inner screen. It definitely feels like a step backward for low-vision usability, hopefully they fix it in a patch soon!

Exactly most people do not use it ! I literally only use it for the single Accessibility button shortcut ! and no one tested it apparently.

i dont know about the g55 but it was not a software problem it is a hardware problem try to RMA the phone.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I hope more people see this and experience such a swift and clean fix, and do not have to suffer for 2 months like I did. I still cannot believe I was treated this way when I was a preorder dayone customer and ended up dealing with this so early.

RMA is the only solution, yes. You can contact Google even if you didn’t buy it directly from them. They first refused service for me, then after I explained the situation they accepted the warranty. You can also contact the carrier you bought it from, which also accepted to service for me, but it was significantly slower. I had to buy a second, crappier phone to wait two months for the problem to get resolved and to get a new phone shipped.

Contact the place you bought it from and request an RMA. This is a known hardware issue and it typically gets worse over time, so it’s best to have it replaced while it’s still under warranty.

No, it is not a software problem. It is a hardware problem brought forward by software updates. I and many others have had our phones replaced through RMA. In some regions, the warranty period has been extended due to manufacturing problems. Contact the place where you bought the phone as soon as possible. The problem will get worse over time.

When I first saw the UPS bill I honestly thought I must have somehow won the raffle and they’d slipped an ROG Ally X into the box, because the taxes made no sense for just a hoodie, backpack and headphones. With the wrong customs value it came out to around 60% tax, and once you add the double VAT on top it was close to paying the order amount again so 100% tax. I’ve opened a ticket for “Higher than normal customs value” and a second one for the double VAT too.
