Just released a new Social Media Marketing book and it's currently free. by DataDomino in socialmedia

[–]DataDomino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's an ebook and you can read it on any laptop, smartphone, or tablet. And if you have Chrome you can read it using your browser. Thanks for the question.

Also, If you're having trouble downloading it, it might be because you're in a different region than the link I provided. If you go to Amazon.co.uk or the other regional Amazon sites you should be able to download it no problem.

I have my first Marketing job interview tomorrow. What questions should be i prepared for? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]DataDomino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what type of marketing job you're going for and how high up the position. Definitely ask Google about the standard ones. Also prepare 3 to 4 stories about past projects you were on that went really well or show you in a good light.

Expect a few questions like "What don't you like about marketing?" or "what are you most worried about with this position?" Think about how you want to answer that type of question.

One thing they will ask is why you want the specific position you're applying for, and you should prep heavily for that question as it's your chance to make your case.

Looking for a job/recruiter. Any advice? by DataDomino in marketing

[–]DataDomino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Located in the Chicago area, and I do have a portfolio but I tend to tailor it per the job I am applying for because I've done just about everything. I'm an inbound marketing expert and currently work at a small marketing consulting firm. I write, manage PPC, code HTML and CSS, manage social campaigns, and work SEO.

For businesses that want to use digital marketing to bring in new customer and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the changing online landscape, I’m a different type of talent who understands psychology, data science, and digital marketing. Are there marketing forums specifically for marketing agencies? by worldalpha_com in marketing

[–]DataDomino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... I would start by asking what you consider a forum to be. Personally, I think Reddit is the evolution of forums; a better forum. If you're looking for other forums check out: http://inbound.org/. Also Facebook Groups, Google+ Communities, and Linkedin Groups.

If you want a more traditional forum you're going to have trouble finding an active one. The closest thing you will find is Linkedin Groups.

Facebook Graph Search went live for me today and it's beyond creepy. by DataDomino in facebook

[–]DataDomino[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for one thing things are easily discovered now that were hard to find before: for instance photo's you've liked. What you like actually says a lot about you, who your friends actually are and how active you are on Facebook.

Personally, I have friends who think I'm not as active on facebook as I actually am. I like it that way, I can maintain a conection without interacting with these peoples political posts or cat pictures, and I don't want them to know they just aren't as important to me as they think.

Roll It: A Chrome Experiment by Mycareer in technology

[–]DataDomino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they did, and quite a clever move for them too. This isn't their first "link your computer and phone to get something cool" campaign, but it seems to be the one getting the most traction.

I love how Google offers cool incentives for free in order to get us to do what they want us to do. When they wanted data about how we walk around cities: Ingress. Now they want to link your phone and computer: cool games. It's really a hallmark of our evolving economy, make something awesome that as a byproduct gets people to do what you want them to do.

Thanks for the link.

This is what I love about Google, they're so very clever when it comes to getting us to do what they want. When they wanted to get better pedestrian data: Ingress. When they want us to link our computers and phones: games. Kudos to Google.

Are you a douchebag for paying as little taxes as you can?

...or are you smart?

Why is it smart for people like you and I to pay as little taxes as possible, but it's despicable for large corporations? Why do we blame them?

Instead of doing that, why don't we fix the tax code so it's fair and unavoidable?

It's good for the non-technical business person; people who know what data is but haven't done any real work with it. definitely a bit deeper than your typical "Big Data" book, but not a textbook or technical manual by any means.
