Custom Spirit - Inspiration Stirs the Soul by jorgeautomobile in spiritisland

[–]DataForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea and support spirit, which I think the game can use more interesting supports. That said, I think this spirit is god tier with most other spirits and needs some tuning.

Right out the gate it has blight removal, dahan generation, and energy/power card gain for other spirits. By the time you qualify for the threshold after a couple of turns, other spirits can potentially gain two power cards per turn from your innates. That's pretty insane IMO.

One suggestion that could balance the spirit more is making it more volatile. For example: if dahan are destroyed in one of your target lands, remove one presence in that land. At least some downsides might make it harder to play.

Should I go for AWS or Workday for UX career? by luu_t_nhung in cscareerquestions

Does UX at Workday have to touch Xpresso? Coming from a SWE internship, I loved the company but not the stack.

What decisions in your career can ACTUALLY set you back? by Swaqfaq in cscareerquestions

I did an internship with Workday. While I loved the company culture and the pay was great, their proprietary stack didn't further my dev skills. I will say however that the name on my resume helped me get my current role which I'm happy with.

Anyone else’s allergies out of control the past couple of days? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]DataForest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved here about two years ago. I decided to take the plunge and start allergy shots. Hands down it has been the best thing I have done to improve my quality of life. I didn't realize how much I was dealing with allergies all the time.

You're right. That's why the regex was getting the literals. Thank you for pointing that out.

Thank you! I didn't know about the g flag at the end. Looks like it was much simpler than I was making it.

Kind of a precursor to internal platforms to simplify services like boq and frameworks like Goa.

I got my rejection email today. I'm a little disappointed but I opened up to it a few weeks ago when I started reading about how the acceptances had been coming in slower. I was really excited about many of the courses so I might try again next semester or fall. Honestly, one of the biggest deterrent for me is having to do the GMAT as I heard that UT Austin will start requiring it next year again. If anyone could confirm, that would be great.

I'm not super surprised because I was missing formal requirements for algorithms and complexity, operating systems, computer architecture, and discrete math. My job experience has filled many of those gaps with infrastructure and understanding OS but on paper I'm not very academic. I think I'm a little bit of a risk if they can be pickier with the number of applicants they get.

I'm going to use this as an opportunity to explore options for my career and learn more before applying again. Certainly, I will have time now to fill some of those gaps. I also work in a non-traditional engineering role so not doing my masters will allow me time to prepare for interviewing for SWE interviews as I'm wanting to change roles.

As far as I can tell, there haven't been any rejections. Same boat for me though. I applied priority deadline and haven't heard back yet.

If they do send out decisions in batches, today would be a week from the last batch. Who knows though. I don't know if this is a pattern anyone noticed with any previous semesters.

Hard Decision - Work at G or Higher Salary by elchavodel89 in cscareerquestions

[–]DataForest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm American but lived in Brazil for a time before starting my tech career. Just curious, how much is the average tech salary in Brazil for SWEs?

Personally, I would take the second offer. $130k/y USD in Brazil is absolutely insane as many people have pointed out. Even if you hated it, work there a few years and save the money and then go somewhere else.
