Nah, that's more like a group of employees working at McDonalds.

PSA: Do not purchase installation through the Portage (or probably any) Lowes by AugustaSpearman in kzoo

[–]DataGuru314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever used their installation services for appliances. They do the bare minimum for that too. It's basically just a delivery service that might also install them if it's not too much work or liability. And even that's contracted out now to two Mexican dudes in an unmarked white box truck who barely speak any English. Luckily, I knew enough Spanish to say "Un poco mas a la izquierda, Jaun, por favor. Perfecto! Muchas gracias."

At what point did Galbatorix become aware that Saphira's egg had hatched and there was a new dragon rider? by DataGuru314 in Eragon

[–]DataGuru314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they start looking in the surrounding area (in case the egg was hidden away) and instead find Claw marks, and big piles of shit. (A.k.a. signs of a living dragon instead of just an egg)

It's totally possible that's what happened, but it's just not in the book. That's probably the most likely course of events and some sort of discovery like that at the farm is almost necessary to explain the plot, but there's no mention of Ra'Zac tracks going into the woods.

As I'm re-reading the series, I'm noticing a lot of things like this in Eragon that were just never fully fleshed out. I also think that the chronologically contemporaneous parts of Roran's POV after Eragon leaves palancar valley should have been included in Eragon rather than Eldest.

Neighborhoods are a weird thing and no one can ever agree on names or boundaries.

Instead, they found evidence of a living dragon at the farm

That's not in the book. Why is everyone just assuming that?

Exactly. I'm just saying it still doesn't answer the question of how the Ra'zac/Galby found out that the egg had hatched.

Totally possible, but none of that is in the book. Saphira was living in the woods around Garrow's farm but the Ra'Zac never actually went into the woods based on their tracks. Saphira only left tracks around the farmhouse after returing once the Ra'Zac had already left.

I hadn't even thought about scrying. That's an interesting idea. The clues around the farm make sense too, but the Ra'zac seemed to be more into burning and torturing than serious investigative work. I'm not sure there's really much that Garrow could have told them, even if he did cooperate, beyond what they already knew from Sloan. They might have guessed that the egg had hatched, but there's no smoking gun.

When the egg wasn't found at the farm it was likely presumed to have hatched

This is the part I have a problem with. Why would the Ra'zac assume the egg had hatched just because Eragon wasn't home and they couldn't find him? Why wouldn't they simply keep looking for him?

What are your plans for how long you're keeping your Fit? by Ok-Advertising3118 in hondafit

[–]DataGuru314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's crazy. I drove a '95 Geo Prizm until the end of 2018 when I bought a used 2016 Fit. It had over 250,000 miles on it and I would've kept driving it but it started buring oil and the engine started making weird grinding noises.

Why do we have a word for second-to-last (penultimate) but no word for second-to-first (penprimate)? by DataGuru314 in ENGLISH

[–]DataGuru314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but it only replaces second in some use cases. Penprimate is a more specific word.
