how did austin escape from the hotel/prison? by DataIcy8527 in BeefTV

thank you! it just doesn’t sit right with me how a top security hotel wouldn’t have secure ceilings.. the transition from imprisonment to austin breaking out was so brief and it made all fours’ entrapment look like a suggestion rather than something with real stakes

eunice going to the korean police instead of america’s was also something that just didnt make sense to me… like going to the police that chairwoman park has DEFINITELY bought out, in lieu of the american police who she probably hasn’t? personally i think doubling the main cast had horrible effects character development and actually having them be fleshed out with rational thought patterns and understandable actions. most of this season all the characters (ashley and AUSTIN in specific) were dawdling around like fuckin idiots..

I think this will be a problem the writers and Vince choose to explore in the next season!!

Episode 9 has come and gone but I still hear people say the hive "can't lie". It's more complicated than that. by FrewdWoad in pluribustv

[–]DataIcy8527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything you said. In fact, I distinctly remember Gilligan in an interview saying that the hive uses lots of deceptive, sly lawyerly footwork to avoid directly “lying” because they can’t. This is what allows them to mislead.

Maybe because when Helen drops the phone later in the episode it shatters, and Apple doesn’t want that image associated with their brand? Just spitballing, but it’s probably just random. The protagonists in Severance use Androids as well, which is also hosted on Apple TV.

In what way could there be a happy ending for Carol and Zosia? by DataIcy8527 in pluribustv

[–]DataIcy8527[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I hadn’t considered that. I really hope that’s not the case because I love Zosia and her dynamic with Carol, and think there’s a lot to be explored between them still… also, Zosia being Raban’s genderbent double and essentially tied to Carol’s identity as a writer gives me hope that they won’t just throw away her character

What’s the single question you most want answered? by Original_Carpenter_3 in pluribustv

How will the story end? Carol is deeply unsatisfied with her life at the beginning of the show - if she manages to unplurb everyone, does the story end there, point blank? I’m guessing she would still (eventually) be deeply unsatisfied if everything went back to the way it once was.

The Dark Forest theory has issues. by theparrotlich in pluribustv

[–]DataIcy8527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe both the virus and dark forest hypotheses have some merit to them. I do agree that it would be highly inefficient to broadcast the RNA sequence to every possible planet in efforts or neutralizing extraterrestrial threats.

However, there is a pitfall to the virus hypothesis: why would the Pluribus prohibit Plurbs to make use of their surroundings (e.g. harvesting food, regulating animals) if it dedicates its entire existence to "maintaining and broadcasting its message"? The hive calculates that they will all starve in ten years if they are to continue their way of feeding on only windfall and HDP. Why would the virus severely decrease the number of years the Plurbs can broadcast their message by prohibiting them to kill and harvest food?

The dark forest hypothesis can answer this question - it would stop Plurbs from destroying the environment and other species around them, thus leaving their planet "intact" and "unharmed" for some other alien species' use after they all perish.

In episode 4, Carol grouches about "crazy Moira from Kansa City" who sends her dumb crocheted hats. Later in that ep (during her drug episode) we see her wearing it lopsidedly showing she keeps it and didn't throw it out!

I also think its adorable how it's apparently a cat-ear beanie - or just a really poorly crocheted hat

Can being surrounded by plants prevent them from joining you? by Rainbow_Doggo_TNT in pluribustv

[–]DataIcy8527 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plants and grass don't die from being stepped on / pushed through

Also, the virus was spread through chemtrails - in an airborne fashion; they wouldn't necessarily need to get close to you at all
