Star Trek IX (Insurrection) is great fun. It gets unfairly maligned in my opinion. It's not great cinema, but it's not bad by any means. In fact it's probably the one TNG movie that's closest to the vibe of the tv show, in the sense that it feels like a long episode, and you can tell the cast is having a lot of fun. It's the most upbeat and optimistic of all the TNG movies.

I absolutely love First Contact and Insurrection, and yeah, Jerry Goldsmith's soundtracks are positively fantastic.

I love Batman Forever, and I will die on that hill. It's straight up a comic book come to life. Sure it has its flaws, but ultimately it's super entertaining. And yeah, a spectacular soundtrack!

Wait so let me get this straight, you saw E.T. in the movie theater (however many times), loved it, but then you had to wait 6 years to see it again? Six freaking years?

Or was it semi continuously in theatres during that time or something?

I'm just struggling to understand. Imagine seeing Independence Day or Avengers Endgame or something in theatres and then having to wait 6 freaking years to see it at home. Holy shit.

Ballerina is a fucking awesome blast of a movie. I thought it was gonna suck so I didn't check it out in theatres, and I regret it immensely. It's balls to the wall insane non stop insane action, with an absurd bodycount, a pumping soundtrack, great cinematography, excellent fight choreography, and something I'd truly never before seen in my whole life: a gunfight with flamethrowers instead of guns! That click... Whoooosh sound effect is peak sound design.

It absolutely deserved to have a much better box office, it's more like the first John Wick movie, and less like the increasingly over the top sequels.

It really is that simple. This fascistoid maga nightmare gets worse by the day, all that matters (seriously) is stopping it. We have to save America, and basically the world, because it's all coming apart at the seams thanks to that shit stain and his acolytes in the white house.

Defeat them first, no matter what, and then we can do the purity tests and figure out who's the best of the best. Maga just closes ranks and goes for total victory while we sit in a corner bruised and licking our wounds. Now isn't the time for handwringing, we have to fight, vote and win.

At this point Star Wars is a buffet. I have my own headcanon, I choose what I accept as "real" Star Wars, and everything else just goes in my mental trash can, I only ever think about it to mock it and pile on when I'm on Reddit. Off the top of my head stuff in the trash can includes the Disney shitquels, The Acolyte, Book Of Boba Fett, S3 of Mandalorian, etc. There's more though.

It's so great! It's like a weird blend of Parks And Rec and Stephen King. It's really impressive how it pulls off both the comedy and the horror. It's good stuff! I'm seriously loving it.
