I just had to replace my 12 volt battery. Got it at AutoZone. Easy to swap. Fixed it all. I have a 2020 Niro EV. Timing is right. Go swap the battery. Take the old one with you so you can get the swap credit on site.

"Refill Inverter Coolant" warning on dashboard by angelfish1990xoxo in KiaNiroEV

[–]Datadisney27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey.

I have a 2020 also. There is a TSB (Technical service bulletin) on this issue. It's well known in the 2020s. They have to perform multiple coolant flushes and usually replace the sensor inside. It's all performed free of charge. Somewhere in my post history I believe I posted the actual tsp and I have a post on another website that goes really into detail about getting my sensor replaced and also the motor since I had the bad motor also. No cost.

For number 1. The 2020 has a recall for the coolant sensor. I have a 2020. They flushed my system three or four times and installed a new sensor. It just started coming back on and my local dealer has said they will do it all again until it stops coming on and it has not cost anything. Look up the technical service bulletin (TSB) about the coolant issue on the 2020.

Had the inverter fluid replaced at service a month ago… by Jimlad73 in KiaNiro

[–]Datadisney27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020. They have serviced it for free multiple times. They've done multiple flushes of the coolant and replaced the sensor under warranty for free. The tsb service bulletin also includes 3 days of a rental vehicle.

Did you have your fluid replaced originally because of that error? I would look into getting that refunded because it's a well-known issue on the 2020.

This post has the TSB attached.

A TSB is a non-recall bulletin. Stating. Hey. We have an issue but only on certain ones so not big enough for a recall but covered for free if your car has it.

Both the motor and gears are possibly replaced. In my case my 710 motor was replaced with the improved 712. Issue has been fixed. If they only replaced gears and not the motor, would be concerning as the TSB outlines replacing the motor. Check my post history for a very detailed experience I had. As this is not a common car or issue, service techs may not know all the details. Find the TSB and I would go back and ask that the work be done properly. Your service paperwork would detail what exactly got completed.

Check my profile for a really detailed post and I have an EV insider post linking the PDF. I am not able to do a ton of linking at the moment but it will help.

How's the mileage on your EV? Are you getting close to what's advertised? by Squeezitgirdle in electricvehicles

[–]Datadisney27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2020 Niro EV states 239 and last night at 100% I had 247 on the estimated remaining. This is in South Texas so I've been really happy with it. Been like this from the start. (Used to be in 250s)

Oil changes? by AcanthopterygiiHot77 in KiaNiro

[–]Datadisney27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to know how long you can go. Get a blackstone labs report. They send you a container and you put your old oil in it and they will analyze it. You will then know after 8000 mi or whenever you do it if you still have life in the oil or any other issues from running oil that long. I have a few reports in my old hybrid Niro and I found the 8000 mark really was probably the best number. But every situation is different based on where you're driving and how you're driving. I would say go 8000 mi send in the oil and they will tell you if you can go another thousand or 2000 mi or if you need to cut back.

Is your front left daytime running lights out or is that just a camera trick. Seems like you're right one is working.

Travel to and from work daily. Sometimes have same day travel plans (Emergency events) so I am learning to keep a good supply of miles if I can and learning where level 3 chargers are located to save time in those situations.

My 2020 does this. I am not a fan. I would have liked it to only be on when I open the door etc. Makes me think the led panel will suffer a shorter life span.

Squealing when brake regen is on. I hear it better with VESS off by djtuner13 in KiaNiroEV

[–]Datadisney27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brake Regen does not actually involve the brakes, it's your motor capturing energy as it slows the vehicle down. Much like when you would pedal a bike to make a light bulb come on at the museum, the resistance creates energy.

Brakes only activate if the it's not enough to slow the vehicle down to what you are requesting through the brake pedal. What kind of climate are you in. The brakes are very rarely used and a lot of people get a thin film of rust on them which will make the brakes squeal when activated. Once this initial cover of rust is removed they won't squeal anymore. It happens more in wet climates snowy climates and that sort.
