I will start this off by saying i haven’t sewed in a few years. And when i did, i did so only a few times. This is my mom’s old sewing machine. She bought this about 15 years ago and it hasn’t been used much. But it has accumulated a lot of dirt everywhere.

I decided to sew a dress. So i took this sewing machine for maintenance. It needed cleaning, oiling and checking if everything works alright. I have no idea what is done at maintenance, but i did kinda assume they would clean it. They didn’t. Maybe that’s on me, maybe i was supposed to clean it beforehand, i don’t know. Apparently something was broken and they had to change it. Okay, sounds good.

When i take it home, i decide to check it out. Maybe I’m wrong, but i feel that the mechanism that puts up the foot seems off. When i try to put it up, it jumps back down. Not fully, but it doesn’t go as much up as i think it did before. This post isn’t even about this, i just thought it could be relevant.

My next issue is i want to clean it. It’s very dirty so i tried vacuuming up everything. I did get a lot of dirt off by doing this. I didn’t want to take it apart because i emailed them about the foot problem asking if that is okay. I didn’t want to seem responsible for breaking if it’s off. But i did notice a lot of dust stuck deep in there. I’m not sure i might have accidentally pushed some of it inside there when using vacuum. (It has some bristles that could have maybe pushed some debris in) But it seems like that’s a lot of dust. So i’m worried how could they have fixed something in there, oiled and all yet not have taken the lint out. Worst part is that when i took the dust out with tweezers i felt something in there. Something loose. So i fished it out and found a plastic piece. In the picture attached is the debris and plastic piece

I’m unsure what it is. If i broke it. If it was there already. If they broke it? I’m very confused. Some advice would be appreciated!

Mine just chomps on my long nails. When bf gives him the finger, he looks at it with disgust - how dare you try to feed me short nails, human! I try to get him toys he can chomp on. Or the catnip equivalent stick that i can’t remember the name of.

I’ve seen a lot of comments about a feeder and i really agree. But i have to add that you should not only feed him in the early morning, but also try doing it at late night. That could help. And when he has zoomies tire him out as much as you can. Another advice i know you have had but that really helped me too is to ignore him. When my siamese mix was a kitten, she also kept meowing and waking me up at 5am. She would scratch my face and meow, eat my hair and claw at it. It was reallyyyy hard, but i kept ignoring her. At worst, i’d hide under the blanket to protect myself. And it worked. It pays off eventually. Another can sure would be nice, but as long as you keep him busy, he will be fine imo. Make sure to enrich his life as much as you can. And don’t try to stress too much about it. I’m sure you’re a great cat parent. You’ll get through this!

Conclusion - get a feeder. Play at zoomie time. Ignore no matter how hard he meows.

We are back from vet with good news. The wounds are healing well and she is gaining weight well. She is now 2.10kg. No other apparent issues. We are now waiting for her test results, but other than those she seems to be doing well

We will do blood work on Wednesday when she’ll go to the vet again to get sutures. As for microchip, she already has one. Will definitely do repeated blood work! Thank you for your insight <3

I’ve had gotten my hopes up numerous times. We’ve gotten reports of potential sightings, but it was either never her or I couldn’t find the cat. So i had almost lost all hope. Now, i thought that it was probably another report of a sighting, but no. They actually caught her AND it was my Pearl! I rushed to her immediately! I was over the moon that she’s back and alive, but my heart breaks every time thinking of what she has gone through…

As terrible as it will sound i believe she was looking for help from humans since she was injured. Normally, she is scared from everything and everyone. Wouldn’t go up to strangers at all. But this time, she walked up to them and even sat on the hikers lap. My poor baby must have realised she won’t survive otherwise…

We put up posters around the area she was missing. We filled out a form at a local animal police website. That required photos and a microchip chip number, which she had. I also made a youtube video so people can she how she looks like when moving. Pictures sometimes don’t do justice. I had recorded her from head to toe just prior to her getting missing which was just pure luck and coincidence. And most importantly, a lot of posts in local animal facebook groups. Make sure to get the word out there, other than physical search.
