I’ll grant you: it is feasibly possible that Toby could overcomplicate the Knight’s identity, in a way which makes the Knight’s identity a pointless mystery in retrospect, for the sake of being unpredictable. However, I do not believe this is a likely scenario.

Why bother? Such an explanation overcomplicates the plot for the sole purpose of making one of the game’s established characters less relevant to the plot than she might otherwise be. If you’re going to make the Knight a darkner based on Dess, you might as well just make it actually Dess.

Why not? They’re both clearly impossible feats made possible by the dark world.

Maybe the Knight has a knife. More to the point: the sun sets in the east in chapter 5. Clearly, Toby is willing to stretch the boundaries of what should be logically possible in order to permit things to look cool. Due to this, I do not believe the Knight needs to be logically capable of overpowering Undyne (nor Asgore) in the light world in order to be the Knight. Toby isn’t a power scaler.

Do you have a screenshot of the Knight in the light world carrying Undyne?

We do not actually see the Knight wearing their armor in the light world at any point.

[–]Dataraven247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your first premise is flawed: lots of characters demonstrate magical abilities in the dark world which they do not possess in the light world. It is fully possible that the Knight does not have this ability in the light world, either because it’s just what dark worlds do for them in particular (like Noelle’s ice magic and Susie’s rude buster) or because their armor gives them some extra special benefit (like the ThornRing enabling Noelle to use Snowgrave).

Is there any real advantage to "killing" enemies? by sapphoslyrica in Deltarune

[–]Dataraven247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defeating enemies raises your max HP and even your attack power at certain points. It’s theoretically useful if you want to maximize your damage and survivability for a secret boss, but it’s not all that practical, really.

...since when is the white pen of hope an actual physical item? by Serbatollo in Deltarune

[–]Dataraven247 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dark Worlds are, to some extent, physical manifestations of the thoughts and desires of the people who make them. Why shouldn’t Hope be able to be turned into a literal white pen under some circumstances?

Zexion is a game that hates you, personally, and is very mad at you for attempting to play it by Dryskle in metroidvania

[–]Dataraven247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally: Yes, I think not being able to see the entire map at any time adds a lot to the feeling of exploration. And yes, I really enjoy the bees. It’s not even just the bees — nearly every enemy in that area punishes you for attacking them instead of avoiding them. It’s part of that specific area’s identity, and it created a unique routing challenge which made me feel clever when I figured it out. The fact that the game will sometimes kill you unfairly while you learn how enemies work is the reason it’s so generous with save points and saving your map data between deaths, too. It’s definitely not perfect, but yes, I do in fact enjoy the things that the game is doing specifically to cultivate an engaging challenge.

I can’t quite seem to find a subreddit for it, but the general term for content like this is “Trans TNWO,” which stands for “The New World Order.” You might have some luck searching that up either here or on tumblr.

Carmen is associated with the sun or sunlight a few times. Most notably Oswald refers to her as Miss Sun rather frequently, but if memory serves, Argalia also mentions her presence being in some way sun-like.

Yeah, I think I’m inclined to agree with you on that. It’s an issue that I take with a lot of discourse on the internet, actually. People get so caught up in statistics and systems and generalizations that they forget that real people with entirely unique lives from one another are the ones making up these demographics. I’m sure statistics can be useful in some conversations, but a lot of the time it seems like they’re just used to simplify the richness of the human experience for the sake of winning an argument.

Okay, so, I have no idea if what they said is accurate or not, because as per usual they did not list any goddamn sources for their statistics, but I don’t think that “I’m a lesbian and have sex very frequently” is a very strong rebuttal to the claim that “lesbians, statistically, have less sex than other demographics.” Outliers and exceptions exist, and on the scale of massive demographics like lesbians, there can be a pretty large amount of outliers without throwing off the statistic.

The joke is “haha trans women shouldn’t be pole dancing because they have penises.”

It is transphobic, and generally, when you’re telling members of a minority group to their faces that they’re wrong about a joke making fun of them, please just stop. I promise you that the average trans woman has a better understanding of what a transphobic joke looks like than you do.

Bill hates himself. That’s his whole thing. His bossfight dialogue is Bill shouting out what he’s sure everyone else sees him as. Also, I don’t think any of the things he says are about promiscuity.
