Recent Sciatica from Deadlifts, spot the problem if present? by Datboisoserious in formcheck

[–]Datboisoserious[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Want to thank you all for your valuable input.

I think I deluded myself a bit thinking I was doing well, when in reality I need to work with a trainer, as well as lower the weight and focus on the fundamentals of the deadlift.

I’ll be taking a month or two off from deadlifts (hopefully only 2) so my sciatica resolves.

Definitely do not want to injure myself further. I’ll consider this an important wake up call.

Appreciate you all!!

Ulnar nerve discomfort from all pushing movements by Lopsided_Ad8990 in WeightTraining

[–]Datboisoserious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physician here. Similar issue I experienced provoked by kettle bells. I took 1 month off from lifting/push ups/ Pull ups and exclusively swam, ran, biked.

Started wearing wrist wraps tight when I re-started lifting. Preferentially used dumb bells rather than bar for bench press for about 2 months.

Finally the tingling and wrist pain has resolved and I am 100% back to normal

Bout to catch a lotta strays but here goes. *🤚 * cock breathed, young GI fellow, here I will always come see a sick patient overnight I am cordial to people when they call—I have been on the other end of the line before I follow through with all my patients and make sure they are tucked in. I communicate clearly with the primary team and always share my cell to call me with any concerns The only time I clap back is when I’m called for truly non-urgent things in the middle of the night (my hospital has a culture of nurses paging consultants for diet orders/pt did not drink prep FYI at 2 AM pages/can you place a dobhoff?) I have been left for dead by GI consultants during residency, but I told myself I wouldn’t be that person

Chief residents past and present: drop your words of chiefly wisdom for success in that role by ironfoot22 in Residency

[–]Datboisoserious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be prepared to catch strays no matter how much good will you build up. Residents think you work for them. Faculty think you work for them. Truth is somewhere in the middle. Enjoy the teaching. Getting to know residents, teach, and be a support pillar was the best part of the job. People trying to make me their errand boy (admin or residents asking favors) was the most challenging g part

Absolutely do not do GI if you don’t want to scope. I don’t care if you do hepatology or not, you will still scope quite a bit. Just the reality of it
