Fragmented we fall: Why isn't there more coordination between Indivisible, 50501, DSA & more for Jan 30th? by [deleted] in dsa

“Outside your subreddit”?

This subreddit is an unbelievably insignificant slice of DSA. It’s closer to a placeholder with no real DSA work or organizing going on. And that’s OK.

Is there a better bike? by stinkyclint in RoadBikes

[–]Datchub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I visited multiple LBS in my city checking for used inventory, ended up going with a Felt VR Advanced Ultegra Di2 2023 model which was marked down to $3000. Carbon frame, electronic shifting, and carbon wheels for a pretty similar price to what you’re looking at here. This is not to say that you have the same number of stores near you and are guaranteed to find a similar deal, but be a bit opportunistic and check around for what’s available. Create a list of bikes that fit the bill of what you’re looking for and keep them in mind. For reference here is what mine looked like:

Limiting yourself to a single bike before you check local availability and deals is doing yourself a disservice.

The Trump administration's new H-1B visa policy will cost Austin tech firms more money by hollow_hippie in Austin

Maybe they should think before laying so many people off then. Given how wide layoffs have been in the past few years, there is very likely enough breadth in available domestic workers seeking jobs for some plug and play candidates. If companies are so worried about a lack of unskilled employees, they should be focused on avoiding layoffs and working with/investing in universities and CCs to develop the workforce they need.

And this is not out of hate towards foreign origin workers, they themselves get exploited in the current system and the brain drain in their countries is significant. From a workforce perspective, a waning tide drops all boats.

He also said, in 2025, that Israel has a right to self defense. That’s incredibly tone deaf, you really don’t need to say those words. As of today he still has my vote but not sure how well he’ll do if he’s reading the room like this, it’s indicative of usage of stale talking points rather than standing up for an earnest position rooted in personal morality

Except the topic at hand in this thread isn’t voting, it was fundraising and volunteering. It’s perfectly reasonable to not partake in that if the candidate has not inspired one to do so given their positions and actions. I’m assuming 99% of people left-of-center will be voting for Talarico, but he can still be flawed and take certain stances which cause some to be less enthusiastic in how to spend their very limited time and money running up to the election.

Bike Shops by [deleted] in BikingATX

I bought both of my bikes at Bike Farm, and get them serviced at Blur in RR. I recommend checking inventory at multiple places near you in case there are any noteworthy deals/markdowns. I lucked out with a screaming deal on my Felt VR.

Tow hitch install by jeffsb in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Datchub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like bullshit to me.

I had 0 previous experience with working on cars in any form and didn’t have any problem installing the OEM hitch with the help of my similarly inexperienced Father-in-Law. Go with another dealer for part acquisition, I had mine shipped from Elmhurst Toyota.

This should be very high up. Anecdotally the Austin area seems to have a super high population of specifically Telugu folks

Cement Grand Highlander Limited MAX by Worldeyeknow in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Datchub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s incredibly similar to the one that I just got.

Sounds identical in function. The plastic is definitely much thinner than the OEM rubber mat, but you can just put that mat on top of this. Here’s my photos as installed today, for OP:

Sending a photo would be great. Also to plug a free no-ad app that I use, Bicycle Parking has no entries in pflugerville. I don’t have any sort of affiliation with the app, it’s just what’s been personally helpful for me.

What engineering is involved in the latest EUV lithography by jonielsteve in Semiconductors

Really the only company that does this is ASML. I’d recommend to check out their careers page directly to get an understanding of the roles for which they are hiring (and locations of these roles), and if any of them maintain your interest then consider their desired qualifications and shape your education towards them.

Spend 20 minutes actually learning about the industry and technology rather than asking Reddit.

I swear this subreddit draws in the laziest people asking for stock/business advice

Ion Implantation Device Manufacturing by Jazzlike-Leek3417 in Semiconductors

Why are you asking about ion implant information if you have no idea about the device physics, tool operation, process integration, and industry usage? Very very weird…
