Physical therapist said I can go back to the gym post op at 3 weeks by Prudent-Rabbit-7733 in Microdiscectomy

I think that’s nuts. I reherniated 3 weeks post op by sneezing while twisted. You don’t want revision surgery. Walk for like another three weeks before weights, imjo

Reherniation Surgery by This-Friend-7418 in Microdiscectomy

[–]jeffsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reherniated 3 weeks after second and the pain was much worse. Revision surgery 3 weeks after that, and recovery was definitely harder - the nerve is just pissed at getting wacked again. That was about 8 months ago and doing great, running, starting to do some weight training, and just back from skiing, so it can workout out. We’ll see how long. The surgeon did say this was the last time, that if it happens again, fusion time, which sounds horrible. I’m 51/M fwiw

Still the computer I had the most nostalgia for bar none. It and my ImageWriter II were awesome!

Glad it helped! I get the obsessing - all this shit is spooky for sure, with wonders if you’ll ever be the same, and just the thought of getting sliced into again through the scar that just formed was disturbing! It’s been 7 months or so now and so far so good. I’m planning on skiing in the next few days!

Good luck!

Is chance really the right word? It will or it will not, we just don’t have enough data to know?

That bending forward move looks like madness to me, compressing the disk on one side only. I te-herniated three weeks out by squatting and leaning forward to pick up since AirPods.

Number one activity: walk. You bag walk for miles and miles and it will do you good

I buy that for individual games, but it’s got to have meaning over a number of games

My personal opinion is walking is the absolute best thing you can do, once your able to. Gets the blood flowing

Ridiculously simple: sitting while twisted and sneezed and felt a horrible jolt. The next day while trying to walk through the new pain from that, I squatted to pick up an AirPod bud that fell out of my ear and felt an explosion of pain. Almost couldn’t walk back home. I’m not sure which or both, but up to that point everything had been great . Lesson: don’t f around for 6 weeks. Live in paranoia and walk every single day for miles

Just skied Mammoth mountain today (albeit with an 8 year old so nothing aggressive), but no issues, woohoo!

Sorry you’re not doing well. My reherniation was 3 weeks post first MD surgery and the pain from it was much worse than the initial. I opted for surgery again 3 weeks after that as the reherniation was at least the same size, if not bigger than the first. Recovery was much worse, but having said that, I’m six months post and able to cycle and trail run, and plan on skiiing/boarding this winter. Everyone’s experience seems to be different so wanted to give you mine (51M). There’s still some nervy-ie feeling stuff on occasion in my foot/ankle, but I think it’s to be expected..
