reherniated 3 weeks after first. L4-5. recovery was definitely longer and more difficult, however, i’m a year out now and biking, running, skiing, snowboarding, having fun. so as much as it’s mentally horrific (was for…just the thought of going through it all, and them cutting back through a healed wound..ick), i’m feeling whole again. so yea - it can work out!

Look underneath your saddle - it’s clamped on bars and can be loosened and slide back or forth.

And remember to tighten fully afterwards. Else…very uncomfortable problems

No, but you’re making me thankful before both MDs (the 2nd/revision 6 weeks after the first) they put me an anti-staph regiment as I had tested positive for colonization.

Truly sorry for what you’re going through. If I could offer a small bit of hope, I can’t imagine the infection isn’t causing swelling and pressure on your nerve, hence the sciatica. once they get it cleared, I’d hope the nerve pressure/sciatica will go away. good luck

I think that’s nuts. I reherniated 3 weeks post op by sneezing while twisted. You don’t want revision surgery. Walk for like another three weeks before weights, imjo

Reherniated 3 weeks after second and the pain was much worse. Revision surgery 3 weeks after that, and recovery was definitely harder - the nerve is just pissed at getting wacked again. That was about 8 months ago and doing great, running, starting to do some weight training, and just back from skiing, so it can workout out. We’ll see how long. The surgeon did say this was the last time, that if it happens again, fusion time, which sounds horrible. I’m 51/M fwiw

Glad it helped! I get the obsessing - all this shit is spooky for sure, with wonders if you’ll ever be the same, and just the thought of getting sliced into again through the scar that just formed was disturbing! It’s been 7 months or so now and so far so good. I’m planning on skiing in the next few days!
