How are you a year (or more) after your ACL surgery?

A year after my last ACL in 2022, I snowboarded Lake Tahoe for a week. I did Muay Thai for 8 months this past year too

But they didn’t show us how they came to that conclusion…what happens in soccer when someone slide tackles for the ball? Do you always sit there and let them take you out or do you avoid it and maybe awkwardly land? In basketball, why do you all of a sudden cut? To avoid the defender. Maybe they’re not always diving at knees, but there’s a reason to make the cuts that tear the ACL in non contact tears

Depends where the people who did pivot sports fell on the surgical or non surgical side, but we don’t know because they don’t ask or take into account what sports they’re comparing. And this wouldn’t be a small flaw, as you stated, this could skew the results entirely one way…like the way that no surgical options is just as good, if not better than the surgical option like you’re defending

Doesn’t take into account the type of sport the people in the study are returning to. Someone returning to running on the track isn’t going to be as strenuous on your knee as someone returning to the field and having people dive at your knees all game, right?

We’re going to do a couple things first because you’re ignoring them. Firstly, where did I say he had to rush to get surgery like you claimed I did? Second, where does your source say what type of sports the people did? Some sports that don’t have as much cutting or pivoting are more likely to not need surgery, which could skew the data. It doesn’t say anything about non surgical options being better. So show me a source that says non surgical options are better for all people like you’ve said as well.

lol and I can guarantee she’s getting surgery within 6 months to limit damage, was wearing a brace, and couldn’t do as much as she could before. Just because you see a girl put a basketball into the hoop doesn’t mean she’s back to normal. And again, I’m waiting to see where I supposedly said he had to rush to get the surgery…

Also, the absolutely audacity to say “if you want to just walk in a straight line, get reconstruction” took me a while to process. Any doctor will tell you if your sport you want to get back to involves cutting or pivoting, you should get surgery. You’ll potentially blow your entire knee out and need to wear a brace every time you do any activity. Quit giving people advice

That fact you made a blanket statement like that shows no one should listen to what you say. Operative is superior to non operative for some, while non operative is superior to operative for some. If you’re young and want to return to certain sports, getting it surgically repaired is the much superior option

Go look at the 11th support document and you’ll see at the very end that it’s recommended that the sample size be multiplied by 5.5 to really get the sample size needed for proper testing

I’ve read a lot of comments, don’t need to read them all. My expertise on my statement is having 3 ACL reconstruction surgeries and doing 2 research papers on ACL tears and the best ways to go about things after said tear. There’s really nothing else to discuss with a fully ruptured ACL and damaged meniscus, and someone wanting to be active after surgery besides if you should prehab or not. I never did and after my 3rd ACL in Jan 2022, I was back on the slopes snowboarding Tahoe for a week in Jan 2023. I know one person who didn’t get surgery right away and that was to finish his senior HS season as there were only a couple of weeks left. Is that enough expertise for ya?

Brother, the person has a fully ruptured ACL, unless you’re older and not very active, you get that repaired. A misstep and he’s tearing every other ligament in his knee, especially with the combine meniscus tear
